I am 41 years old , lean and am basically healthy - not a great body or stamina but no problems either. I hv just started swimming and i would like to know what is considered a 'good workout'. My pool is 15 m long and right now i can't do more than 2 laps continuously. How many should i aim for in an hours time?

consider this. any class you've ever taken, before you were sent out to take care of a homework assignment, the teacher usually acquainted you with the material by giving you sample questions or problems. this is to aid you in thinking of the proper way to answer or solve them. it wouldn't necessarily be fair for a teacher to just give you an assignment without any preparation. yet in the bible we're taught that we were given jesus as the perfect example by which to live our lives. keep in mind, this is some 4000 years after man had already been around, biblically speaking of course. wouldn't you say this is somewhat poor planning on god's part if he did indeed want us to be christ-like? shouldn't he have sent jesus much earlier, like maybe before adam and eve, so they would have a better example to live by? your thoughts?

I called a broker and asked what I could do with $1000 to invest. I didn't want long term mutual funds, or bonds - I just wanted to risk the cash and buy something I could watch go up or down on the market - He said with such a small amount of money he'd be wasting his time to work with me. I stubbed my big toe 5 days ago and it doesn't hurt much anymore but I have some concerns: I only have about half of my normal range of motion and it definately hurts if I try to force it farther. Also, there is a weird knot on top of the joint that feels as hard as bone under the skin, but it is not painful when I press on it. It was very painful when I stubbed it and I couldn't walk on it for a few days. No swelling, no bruising, but something definately doesn't feel right. I'd appreciate responses from those who have had similar experiences, or from medical professionals. Thanks for your help!
