Why does every statistic I examine indicate that
a) the bible belt has a high divorce rate
b) the bible belt has a high incidence of STDs
?

Shouldn't we by rights expect almost zero divorces and zero STDs in a majority-christian population? Does it look like that abstinence stuff is working, or does it look like it is having the opposite effect?

I see people treating a dog better then they treat their family members. ANd sometimes i see familys put Dogs over children? I love dogs. BUT no way is a dog over a human being. yet i see it everyday. Example my sister in LAW spent over 35,000 on her dog in the last couple of years. WHILE she watches her cousin+ children with little food on their table. SHE says the dog is more important. PEOPLE i see it everyday. I just dont understand how people think.

Two people are talking, one of them says something that the other takes as an attack on their beliefs and/or values (not a personal attack) and becomes defensive and even hostile.

Why do people do this, why it that when someone asks a question or makes a statement that asks a question of someone’s belief system that they become hostile instead of cool calm and collected, and asking for clarification?

Why do people instantly believe they others are attacking their beliefs? Are these people so unsure of their own beliefs that they attack out of fear or is it something else?

Please explain what you mean.

Serious answers only please.

Thanks.

A plane didn't hit the world trade center, it was a missile! All the witnesses that seen a plane are fake. All video of a plane hitting are faked. The media lied to you. Wake up people!

I hold 2 policies: an endowment and a whole life policy. I have bought these policies for about 1.5 year already. Now, I realized the higher costs are not justifiable and like to terminate these policies and switch to a term policy.

I called up and spoke to my agent (I did not send her any written notice) about terminating these policies and she strongly advised me to let the policies lapse rather than surrender immediately.

Is there any 'catch' I'm unaware of when letting the policies lapse, as compared to surrendering them immediately?

My brother's '97 Ford Escort threw a rod yesterday...straight through the engine, oil pan, etc...so the engine is completely busted. The car had 150,000 miles on it. He would like to just get a replacement engine, but the shop said it would cost $2,300 just for an engine (he was hoping to get a new transmission as well, as it is getting pretty worn out). Would it be worth it to look elsewhere for a more reasonably priced engine+tranny swap (if so, where?) or should he just give up and buy a used car with 70-100K miles on it. Problem is that he only has a couple thousand dollars to spare. Thanks.

Would a 41 year old woman with kids aged 3,5 and 11, leave her husband, break up a beautiful family and inflict the kind of hurt and suffering that a divorce has on young kids, because she needs to "find herself" and "it's not you, it's me"???

By her own admission, her husband is a great father, does his share and then some around the house, is affectionate and loving, makes good money and has no major vices, other than smoking....and she even claims that the way her husband is and the point her marriage is at, is supposedly what she's always wanted...what she's has always claimed would make her happy.. Yet, "I'm just not happy" "I've lost a piece of myself over the years, need to think about myself and what makes ME happy"... I say that what is really going on is that she's met someone else!

I have to add that 4 months ago she WAS interested in someone else...she considered having an affair... and it was after this guy at work came on to her that all these changes started. Hmmm!!
