Hi Toby16. God tells us in His Holy Word the Bible to baptize in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. In Matthew 28:19 God tells us:

"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:"

But baptism by water is not necessary for your salvation. God speaking in Luke 3:16-17 tells us:

"John answered, saying to all, “I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire."

Water baptism has nothing to do with becoming Saved. Baptism was an outward sign (ceremonial Law) that God had instituted for the local New Testament congregations. This was to show us a representation of how water (either by sprinkling or pouring on, or by being immersed in) washes away the filth of our flesh (our sins). In the eyes of God for one of us to be clean, it is He (and He alone) which applies the Water of the Gospel to us. And thus, washes away the sins of that individual. The act of water baptism has no spiritual impact on any person.

You could baptize all day and all night and there is no guarantee that anyone of those whom you baptized were saved. Christ was baptized in water and so was I, but it plays no part in anyone's salvation.

What is the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit? Yahweh. The Father is Yahweh and the Son is Yahweh and the Holy Spirit is Yahweh. Jesus is the anglicized version of the Greek. However, the Name of the Son of God is Yahshua. Yah is the contracted form of Yahweh. In fact this contracted form appears 49 times in the Old Testament. Yahshua means Yahweh Saves or Yahweh is salvation. Even as it is appropriate and completely accurate to call any of the members of the Godhead Yahweh, so it to call any of Them Yahshua. Hallelujah means praise Yah or praise Yahweh. We do not say Hallelu JAH but we say Hallelu YAH

Either, all. What matters is that you understand baptism so that you can do it in faith.

One way to look at it is that you are declaring to the world that you are the Lord's. You belong to Him.

Another way to look at it is you are declaring faith in the resurrection. The raising up out of the water is a type of resurrection from the Earth.

Either way you want to look at it is fine. Or make it something personal between you and God. Just make it a promise from Him that you are responding to.

John 11
25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;
26 and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?"

Toby16, it's that personal. Don't look for a magic formula here. Baptism like everything else in Christianity does not require rigid regulation. It requires that you trust God with all of you heart, soul, mind, and strength.

So pick a promise from God's word and live on it. Go to a Baptism and know personally why you are doing it, and tell God about it. He cares about what it is. He knows you.

The Gospels (Matt, Mark, Luke & John) are all under the law! We are now under The New Covenant (Grace & Truth) and no longer under the law! (Gal 4:4). If so then, John 14:16 says that The Comforter would come and Heb 10:16 says commandments would be written in the hearts of the Apostles. And so they were, because after The Day of Pentecost the command to be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus is shown throughout the remainder of the NT and we must "observe" the commands given the Apostles (Matt 28:20). That is to baptize in the name of the LORD JESUS!
