I'm talking about Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Rational Response Squad, etc. It's not that I disagree with what these people have to say, it's that I'm sick of people quoting them (Dawkins especially) as if they were the authorities on what all atheists believe.
Maybe it's just me but I can't stand the Cult of Personality that seems to be developing.
Again, I don't really have anything against these people, just the 'appeal to authority' logical fallacies that I see get on my damn nerves.

I just got a new MacBook Pro (hurray!). It's my first laptop. It's going to spend most of its time on my desk, but I wanted a laptop for the flexibility to tote my computer around.

Question is, is it good to leave it plugged in when it's on my desk (again, most of the time). Or is it best to let the battery charge up, then unplug it and let it run down before recharging it?

Hi everyone i was simply trying to eat at the Costco Food Court. As I attempted to enter Costco through the entrance I was denied b/c i didnt have a membership. Now i had no problem with this rule of there's. Yet i reuqested to see some type of documentation which shows this is a rule. They scatterd around for 30 minutes looking for any way to get me out of there establishment. They found nothing !

Eventually the manger came out and told me allthough they had nothing which show'd I couldnt eat at there food court I had no right to be there. Was a violated my due rights ?

The manger had the nerve to tell me that they were losing money when people eat at there food court !

I'm thinking about getting a new digital slr, either the Canon XTi or Nikon D40. What I'm curious about is whether or not you can just take digital photos with them, or if I need to always shoot film too. I want the ability to shoot film, but I dont want to always have to use it.

First things first. I am a guy and i'm 16. And now onto the question. So i recently began going out with this great girl. We've only been together for what one might call 1 day. But we got off really great and there is already a strong bond of trust and intimacy in place between us.The question however is about sex. She has done it more times than i could count that i'm sure of and it doesnt matter to me as long as she doesnt go into details of it with me which she doesnt. I however am still a virgin (which im proud of). During our first date which lasted the whole day, there were multiple times when she would try to get me to have sex with her, through words AND mainly actions. I held her off playfully and told her that i want to go slow to say the least. Now i'm wondering. If it is something she really wants to do, should i go along with it and go all the way? That's the title of a speech Frederick Douglass gave in 1852, it's brilliant, everyone should read it.

With that being said, am I not entitled to feel the same way he did? No I cannot possibly claim to have experienced even half of the gross injustice and cruelty that the American slave faced, but in a country where I do not feel free, or even welcomed, do I have reason to feel much patriotism?

As Douglass said in his speech "Opression makes a wise man mad." And today of all days highlights the hypocrisy that is America. For some of us, the celebration of this day is a mere "sham."

So should I just shut up, go to a BBQ, and be happy that I don't live in the Middle East...or should I be a Bah Humbug?

I took it for a motor oil change this last weekend. About two days ago it started feeling shaky when standing still, as if something inside was 'bubbling', also, when i turn the ignition off, it sputters a little. I just noticed the check engine light is on.
What could it be? Is it really serious? or can it wait until the weekend to get it checked?

I am 33 yo and after 2 miscarriages, was suprised to learn I was pregnant with twins. I am now almost 10 weeks and my doctor is recommending I undergo the Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS) test in my next 2 weeks. Any experience with this with twin pregnancies? What are the pros/cons versus amniocentesis? Was told if something is found wrong with one twin he/she can be removed without endangering other twin. Is this true, and if so, can not the same be done with amnio.

I am very worried about risks, especially with my previous history. Please help if you have any info on this.
