Well, since I have a friend who's brother is gay, and we are both LDS, I would say that usually what happens is they aren't shunned. Yes, the parents are disappointed that they have chosen that lifestyle, but they still love their son, and still have him over for family things. In fact, the brother and his partner are having a union of some sort this month, and his mother is going, along with my mother. Does that sound intolerant, or like he isn't loved?

I'm sorry if you had a bad experience, but Mormon parents are no more likely to shun their children than any other religion.
