Hi everyone i was simply trying to eat at the Costco Food Court. As I attempted to enter Costco through the entrance I was denied b/c i didnt have a membership. Now i had no problem with this rule of there's. Yet i reuqested to see some type of documentation which shows this is a rule. They scatterd around for 30 minutes looking for any way to get me out of there establishment. They found nothing !

Eventually the manger came out and told me allthough they had nothing which show'd I couldnt eat at there food court I had no right to be there. Was a violated my due rights ?

PS
The manger had the nerve to tell me that they were losing money when people eat at there food court !

It is private property. Members pay up to $100 a year for membership. Prices in the food court are very low and might be just a service for members where there is a loss.

It depends. Some costcos have food courts outside and anybody can eat there no one ever asks for membership. For ones that have indoor cafes simply sneak in the returns door and act like you are returning something then when no one is looking just head over to the food court. Hell, you could even say "I'm sorry my mom/dad/husband/wife went ahead of me and they have the card" and they will always let you pass.

Any establishment has the right to refuse service to anyone they choose to refuse service to. If Costco doesn't want you in their food court, they have every right to keep you out.

In fact, they do have a valid reason. Costco is a membership club. That means that they extend benefits to people that pay membership fees. That is why the food is so inexpensive at their food court, because they are selling it at near cost or at a loss to their members as a benefit.

Why does this bother you? It's so very clear. Get a membership or don't expect to be let in. Duh.

It's private property so they can deny entrance to anyone. And yes you must have a membership to eat there. Although I do know a few Costcos that have their food court outside and no one checks for your membership card. You might want to look for another one. Or, get a membership. Or if you know someone who has membership, like your dad or mom or brother or sister, borrow their card. They don't check the picture.

Two words: Members Only. That was your first clue that without membership you wouldn't be allowed in. And you obviously did have a problem with this rule, otherwise you wouldn't have demanded them to produce documentation stating the same.

Just for kicks and to prove my point, next time go to a country club and tell them you just want to eat at their restaurant and see what kind of reception you're given.

Your "due rights" were not violated, you just believe you're entitled to things to which you're not.

BTW, while it is a public establishment, it is still private property. To be in business it does not rely on public (ie, tax) dollars like government agencies, schools, etc.

Costco is a private property and they have the right to stop you. As a Club, the associates pay an annual fee. Is for "member only".

Obviously you have a problem with the rule since you demanded documentation. Seriously- go somewhere else to eat. Or buy a membership. They are not that expensive. You sound like one of those incredibly selfish self-absorped people that get very worried whenever they feel like they have been wronged in some very insignificant way. Grow up!

They have every right to deny you service if your not a member. Plenty of places do that kind of thing so either join their club or don,t if you want to eat there. I,m guessing you made a real jack-a$$ of yourself also so I,m not surprised you were shown the door.
