I have a table in my database that has two columns. The first column has some names of individuals and the second column has some group names. I have another table with over 500,000 records. What I want to do is to do a lookup of sorts on the two column table and wherever the individual name comes up in the large table, to return the group name. I am able to change the name with this query:

UPDATE CommonNames
SET Customer = 'Group A'
WHERE Customer = 'Bill Smith.'
OR Customer = 'John Smith'
OR Customer = 'Aaron Smith'

But then I will have to constantly update my query when the two column table changes (frequently). Is there a query I could use that does a lookup on the two column table and based on what's there changes the large table? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Chris

I repeatedly see claims that "that part isn't valid anymore" or "you have to twist it around 18 different ways to get the true context".

While these claims additionally violate the concept of Sola Scripture (which is officially the teaching of many Protestant denominations); what is the use of such a book if these claims are true?

hi there, as many of you know we are hoping to emigrate to queensland in Australia within the next 12 months. My son is 17 and once we get to Australia will aim to go to college for a year to study. he wants to know if he will be able to join and train in the Australian police? Or do you have to be Australian of origin to do this?

Remember he has not been proven guilty for steriords which the main purpose for taking is to help you heal faster. Also there is no proof that pitchers were not doin the same, and many people have been found guilty of it, Mcgwire, Palmeiro, Grimsley, Mota, Giambi etc.... so don't be to quick to judge one of the greatest hitters ever

Mercep Bencsch is a man who encounters the party at outllandish moments each with different roles. In the end he's both a music player and a shopkeeper in Plotnik. Before the party's departure he was actually living in Accretion City, and his real name was Bradley Gregg. He was a famous man; however he fell at a prize ceremony, received brain damaged, and began to think he was Mike Jitlov. He was later locked in a nanoreactor and placed in suspended animation bofore Plotnik fell and woke up 300,000 years later in the present day Christian era, still thinking he was Mike Jitlov.

don't you feel bad for or even think twice about the starving children everytime you take a bite???????? This just upsets me sooo much!! You should only eat to survive! It should not be a hobby or something that is taken for granted!! The poor starving children need food and we should all want to help!!!

We are going to pride in Seattle this weekend and want to take my partner's little brothers, they are 7 year old twins. They recognize our relationship and dont really think about it much because she is their sister and they just accept whatever she says. Pride is always somewhat family oriented, and people bring kids all the time. The parade is televised so they are very strict in enforcing clothing and conduct rules.
What pro's and con's do you see to taking children to a pride celebration? I feel like at this point they may ask some questions for sure, but i'd rather them be curious now than not be exposed to it and turn out to be homophobic and vile 10 years down the road....

The church has wronged in the past.

Child molestation cases, the Spanish Inquisition to name the worst to.

But why is it many liberals(I can't believe I used that word since I consider myself one) and evangelicals bash the Catholic Church?

The Catholic Church is against the death penalty and abortion, all life is sacred.

The Catholic Church believes the acts of homosexuality a sin, not the people, unlike some Christian denominations.

So why is it, particularly on here, the Catholic Church's failings are popular and its good points are overlooked.
