The other day I was getting in the express lane at the grocery store behind an older woman who had probably 30 items (limit for the express checkout lane is 15). She knew this and even made a comment like "I'm just over the limit" and then laughed. After the long delay of checking all her items she goes through her purse and takes out a checkbook and slowly writes the check. Long story short I timed her and it took her seven minutes to get through the express checkout. It took me 32 seconds. Also while she was holding up the line, four more people had gotten in line behind us. What can be done about the old people? Perhaps a separate line for them? Also, whats with the checkbooks in this day and age?

judaism is an open religion
i believe in the values and the teachings but not in god
i have no problem with that
it is how i live and i don't see why it would matter to you

i simply do not believe in god, but i live as many who do believe do. i am a person with morals, i love to learn, i find theology interesting. you can indeed be an athiest jew...

How can you cope with depression when the person you live with doesn't understand or even care to understand serious depression is? I live with my mother and she always tells me to "Just get over it" like its something I can switch on and off whenever I please. Seriously, why would anyone choose to feel that way? Its hard enough to live with her in general. But living with depression and her is almost impossible. I would think that my mom would love me enough to atleast act like she cared. But she's never given me any words of encouragement, all she ever does is put me down and makes me feel like its my fault I feel this way.
Moving out right now is not an option. I'll be moving in a year because I'm getting married. I'm only staying to save up for my wedding. Please don't tell me to just move out. I just want to know how I can deal with this situation. Any advice?

I did not fully understood the following sentences regarding gravity from "A Briefer History of Time" by Stephen Hawking. Would you explain it to me as clear as possible, thank you.

According to Newton's law of gravity, a body of twice the weight will have twice the force of gravity pulling it down. But it will also have twice the mass and thus, according to Newton's second law, half the acceleration per unit force ( by the way, what is half the acceleration per unit mean?). According to Newton's laws, these two effects exactly cancel each other out, so the acceleration will be the same no matter what the weight.

My boyfriend is 28 and I'm 25. We've been dating for quite some time and I want to say yes but there is one thing stopping me. His 'best' friend is his ex-girlfriend. This really hurts my feelings, I want to tell him not to see her anymore but that is unfair. He knows how I feel, and we talk about it. I don't have anything against her just the situation. We've decided that we should take baby steps towards me being comfortable. For example: if we're all together he pays extra attention to me. And if I get upset and work through it with him, he tells me how great I'm being. I still get upset because I don't think I should have to put forward this much effort so he can still see his ex. I figured that friendships naturally come and go. So I decided to wait it out and not get married until after they weren't friends anymore. My main arguement is that you should marry your 'best' friend. He's saying that he doesn't want to wait years to marry me. What's your opinion on the situation?

I have a friend who is a single mother of 4, we have recently been hanging out alot and her kids are always there and I really love these kids.
