For Immediate Release February 28, 2007
Seaside Heights, NJ – The bone chilling air temperature of 38° didn’t scare off some 2,550 brave souls who took to the icy Atlantic Ocean on February 24 for the 14th Annual Law Enforcement Polar Bear Plunge in Seaside Heights.
With waters that were recorded at 33°, the Polar Bear Plunge, presented by the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics New Jersey, was deemed a success by all accounts.
“We’re very pleased with this event and with the level of support that we received from the Seaside Heights community. For an event this size to run smoothly, it takes a team of true leaders and dedicated individuals, and we feel that we had both,” according to Mathieu Nelessen, Director of Law Enforcement Sponsorship at Special Olympics New Jersey.
