I'm intending to move to a quieter and nice neighbourhood outside central London. Everyday I need to commute into Zone 1 to work. Would you recommend any of these areas to live, if not, why?
Barking, Essex (Tube Zone 4)
Finchley, London N3 (Tube Zone 4)

Northwest London (NW11)
Southwest London (SW19)
East London (E3)
North London (N19)

Thanks in advance.

I am not very familiar with all of them , so I will just tell you about the places i know.

Barking - its in Essex. Not the best place in Essex to go, i dont think it in very good condition, i think Barking and Dagenham are pretty much no-go areas in Essex. I could be wrong though. Essex also attracts a certain type of person. If you want to live in Essex stick to areas like Chigwell or Brentwood. Although i think Chigwell is quite expensive, a hot spot for the rich and succesful (and flashy)

Finchley, London N3 (Tube Zone 4) Highly sought-after area, housing is pricey, large Jewish population (not orthodox), but also plenty of non jewish. VEry good place to live if you can afford it. Good transport links (underground and buses and i think there is an overhead train somewhere around here, not sure).

Northwest London (NW11) - not sure about NW11, not sure where that is, sorry. Can you give the name of the place?

Southwest London (SW19). I think this is WImbledon, maybe parts of southfields. Again, highly sought after. Leafy, some very very expensive houses down there. Definitely buy in SW19 if you can afford. Again, there are tube links, overhead trains and buses. Its a quiet area

East London (E3) - not sure where this is, sorry. Can you give the name of the place?

North London (N19). This postcode covers two areas, Archway and Highgate. It really depends where you are going. Both have good transport links (underground train and buses). Personally i think Archway is vile. Too many kebab shops, untidy streets. However its probably quite expensive being next to Highgate. Definitely not quiet.

In contrast, Highgate is lovely - leafy, EXTREMELY highly sought after - house prices through the roof. Some celebs live there. Lots of nice parks (e.g. Waterlow Park), nice coffee shops, cafes and boutiques. Quiet. Buy if you can afford

Not sure about the areas in East London, but Finchley is nice, albeit expensive.
NW11 is the Golders Green/Hampstead Garden Suburb area. The Garden Suburb is probably the nicest area in London, surrounded by Hampstead Heath, but it is bloody expensive. Ironically, it was originally conceived, 100 years ago, as a classless society. Nowadays you have to be a millionaire to live there.

Barking is in the london bourough of Barking and Dagenham, which some places are a bit run down but a lot of money is being spent on housing etc.especially in Barking. Other areas not to sure on but go to the areas and get the feel of them and then pick what suits you Good luck.
