The door latch should have 4 levers coming out of it which are attached to the various rods that operate it. One is for the inside door handle release, one is for the outside handle release, one is for the outside door lock..where the key goes in and one is for the inside door lock...goes to the little knob you push or pull on top of the door trim panel to lock the door. Some times these levers get jammed up in the latch but if you try to operate one of the latch levers for the inside or outside handles, it should open. You may have to move both of the lock levers to the unlock position first or play with them. Make sure the latch is not overly corroded or spray it down real good with WD-40. I've done some that were so bad , we had to drill out the latch assembly from inside the door by the striker to get it open. Or air chisel if there's room.

there should be a lever connected to it,that you can pull on to release it,you can also reach back to it with a screw driver if the door panel is off of it ,and trip it that way some of those would come loose, and cause the door to stick, good luck with it,i got in to this with a 67 chevelle a while back,it was hard to get open also, hope this helps.
