I started to have pain on my lower right side of my abdominal. It is not sever pain but its defiantly there. The day before I had this pain. I was having really bad gas. And im not joking. I had eaten a lot of food the night before because im trying to eat right. And I knew it was the last time I was going to eat fatten foods. So I stuffed myself. I think my pain may be due to it. Not sure though. Im really scared to say the lest. Im afraid it may be two things. 1. My appendix. Or 2. A hernia. Now how long before I should go see to the ER? I mean its day two and the pain is still here. Its not worse. Its about the same. I don’t have any other symptoms either. So what does everyone think? I don’t have insurance. So its not like I can go just run off to the doctors. I cant afford it right now. I know that gas can cause really bad pain. No joke! I read that on line. Anyway, please help me out guys. Im scared.

Does the statement, "We've always done it that way" ring any bells?

The US standard railroad gauge (distance between the rails) is 4 feet,
8.5 inches That's an exceedingly odd number. Why was that gauge used?

Because that's the way they built them in England, and English
expatriates built the US Railroads.
Why did the English build them like that?
Because the first rail lines were built by the same people who built the
pre-railroad tramways, and that's the gauge they used.

Why did "they" use that gauge then?

Because the people who built the tramways used the same jigs and tools
that they used for building wagons, which used that wheel spacing.

Okay! Why did the wagons have that particular odd wheel spacing?

Well, if they tried to use any other spacing, the wagon wheels would
break on some of the old, long distance roads in England, because that's
the spacing of the wheel ruts.

So who built those old rutted roads?

Imperial Rome built the first long distance roads in Europe (and England)
for their legions. The roads have been used ever since.

And the ruts in the roads?

Roman war chariots formed the initial ruts, which everyone else had to
match for fear of destroying their wagon wheels. Since the chariots were made
for Imperial Rome, they were all alike in the matter of wheel spacing..

The United States standard railroad gauge of 4 feet, 8.5 inches is
derived from the original specifications for an Imperial Roman war chariot!!
And bureaucracies live forever.

So the next time you are handed a specification and wonder what horse's
*** came up with it, you may be exactly right, because the Imperial Roman
army chariots were made just wide enough to accommodate the back ends of two
war horses.

Now the twist to the story

When you see a Space Shuttle sitting on its launch pad, there are two big
booster rockets attached to the sides of the main fuel tank. These are
solid rocket boosters or SRBs.

The SRBs are made by Thiokol at their factory at Utah. The engineers who
designed the SRBs would have preferred to make them a bit fatter, but the
SRBs had to be shipped by train from the factory to the launch site. The railroad
line from the factory happens to run through a tunnel in the mountains. The SRBs had to fit through that tunnel.
The tunnel is slightly wider than the railroad track, and the railroad
track, as you now know, is about as wide as two horses' behinds.

So, a major Space Shuttle design feature of what is arguably the world's
most advanced transportation system was determined over two thousand
years ago by the width of a horse's ***.

I went to a tanning salon 4-5 hours ago and I'm pretty burned. I used to work at tanning salons so I thought I knew how long to go, (half the maximum time of the bed), but apparently these were brand new, or really strong bulbs. I should know this since I've worked in tanning salons for a total of 4 years but I never allowed myself to get burned. Is there a good lotion that will prevent peeling and flaking? Is aloe best?

so Ive read others questions similar to this and everyone says just speak your mind and let people know the real you. However when I am with anyone outside of my good friends, my mind wont let me speak it. Im constantly thinking of conversation that would work. My basic question is how do you overcome a mild social anxienty? I dont want any answers such practice leaving your comfort zone like joining theatre or public speaking because Ive tried that and it works when Im in theatre or public speaking but as soon as Im in a social situation that im not comfortable with I clam up and use the usual "so whatre you doing these days" or "how is life treatin ya" I want to learn to be one of those outgoing pompous jackasses that still seem to be the centre of attention. If you dont understand my question, then please dont answer.

I have been in a long fight to get a paternity test on Kim. I have just found out the task is going to be harder than I thought and probably won't happen. I have been trying to follow the law, while Kim's mother, Karen has broken it. It is an almost impossible fight to start with.

I made a website about my search for Kim and am wondering what people think of it and make sure I din't go too far with it. I tried my best to put anger aside and put down what I know and some 'open letters' to the people involved.

I was going to advertise in the local paper where they live but the paper said no, because they feared a slander lawsuit, but it's not slander when it is the truth.

So, did I go over the top with the website? http://SearchingForKim.com

If someone is born in Puerto Rico with the name Ramón.
Why is he then "Raymond" to English speakers?
He was born Ramón and will always be Ramón.

My name is Sarah in English, but in Spanish I'm "Sara".
BUT..."Sara" is not me. I am Sarah.

Sorry if I don't make any sense. It's late, I'm tired, but i just was wondering. Do you understand me?

My lower back tends to always be sore at the end of the day, whether I worked for 8 hours on my feet or spent most of my time sitting in class. I have a thin build and a fairly large chest. Could this be putting strain on my back? Or could it have something to do with what I eat? Is there a vitamin/nutrient I'm not getting enough of?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I'm 17 and I think my mum thinks I am losing weight to quickly.
I've never been over weight but I still would like to lose a few!

Last year my eatting and exercise patterns were pretty bad. This year I've been concentrating on just being healthy. I've been exercising quite a bit and eatting ok, but better than previously.

My mum has been commenting lately that i've lost a lot of weight (i'm still in the healthy weight range).

I've noticed lately that she has put on a bit of weight (she would be considered underweight, but because of her recent coeliacs diagnosis she has put on possibly 5kgs)

Anyway, since my mum has been commenting about my weight she has started offering and giving me sugary and fatty foods, rather than the fruit and veges I would normally be given.

Do you think my mum is trying to make herself feel better about her small weight gain? Or something else?

Thanks
