Not really. Its good if you ask someone because you can never be certain and you need to protect yourself! What do you mean by " potential lover" are you interviewing applicants? lol

No i wouldn't be offended. Its good if you ask someone because you can never be certain and you need to protect yourself! I think that you are being very mature and if your partner cares about you they will get tested! Besides its not like your saying that your potential lover has anything but what if they had another lover before you who didn't protect themselves and have picked something up from them! U should be very proud of yourself for taking the necessary steps to being safe! If the rest of the world were like you we wouldn't be having so much trouble with STD's and AIDs

first of all that is the smart thing to do, because bob rather be safe then sorry.

However although all the people on yahoo say they would not be offended, bob would think a good amount of people would be offended and take it as you suggesting they used to sleep around. Since bob is assuming you are a girl, guys would probobly not be as offened as say girls.

Just do it cause if you dont get them tested, end up with aids, spread it and bob ends up with aids its your fault and bobs gonna come looking for answers.

How much is it worth to you not to get HIV or anything else? I have papers saying I'm clean and would expect nothing less. They say 1 in 4 people had, have, or will have something in their life. I'm one of them I had HPV the one that causes cervical cancer and there are at least 100 different strains or variations of just that one disease. So ask yourself how much your health means to you. Even when I have a significant other I test yearly cause you just really can't be too careful.

No, it is not wrong. I understand that this is common now. One thing you should know is that with the HIV test that is given, it takes from 6 months to a year after a person has been infected for the test to show a positive.

Unless the person has had no sex for the past year, it doesn't mean that the person is not infected.

No, definitely not. It's right to do this and to get tested yourself. I suggest that you two go to the clinic together. When the results are ready, make an appointment, together and let the doctor tell you, together.

Its definitely the right thing. Just explain him/her that its nothing against him/her (lol) just that you think its important and you will feel much safer after the test.

No not at all....As long as the both of you go and get tested together..then your partner doesn't feel you don't trust her.
