With more and more demands placed on mothers to get more done and children to progress faster in all areas of development. The playpen, if being looked at as a potential negative factor. Some refer to it as a "holding tank" for kids and if used could stunt the development of a child.

Many moms say they simply can't live without it. It makes doing dishes, etc easier. Others say, it's one of the worst things you can do for your kids and you've got to find a way around using them.

What is your opinion? Are playpens as bad as TV for kids under age 2?

If you do not use playpens, what do you do to keep your child involved? Do you have a play stove, etc for them to play with while you do dishes?

Our family has health issues that have required us to try different medications and we are allergic to so much of it. Some of it we only took two or three pills. Then there were times that the pharmacy somehow filled that prescription again on accident and we unknowingly picked it up with our other meds. When you have 25-30 different meds, it's easy for this to happen! We have very reasonable co-pays, so you never notice a few dollars here and there. The pharmacy can't take them back and we can't use them. I'm hoping someone might know of some organization-- or something-- where I can legally take the medication and have it put to use. It seems a shame with the cost of some medications to just have to throw it down the drain.

“You’re ruining my life!” It isn’t what any mother wants to hear, but she had no choice, they could barely afford to pay rent and besides it was an opportunity of a lifetime and she knew that this would be the answer to all there financial problems. His hands shook with anger, he screamed with rage “Why are you doing this?” He fell to the ground. He couldn’t take it anymore. Tears began to form from his eyes. A mother’s instinct is to be there for her child, but she knew that if she comforted him that it would anger him even more, it was no use, she felt guilty enough as it is. He struggled to pull himself up, he gave a hard cold stare into her eyes and with disgust he yelled “I hate you!” He slammed the door as hard as he could, the hinges shook violently. This was supposed to be an opportunity of a lifetime for them. She understood that all he ever worked for in New York would soon be coming to an end. This was going to be the fifth time they have moved in three years... continued

My FSIL pulled me aside at a family party and we started talking. She began to bad mouth my in-laws and even my own Fi. She told me that my FMIL has babied my Fi his whole life and I should get out of this situation while I can. She was basically making it out that I would be in a life of servitude if I marry my Fi. She also said, she feels that my Fi's family bend over backwards, when my Fi is in need of anything. She claims her husband hasn't been given the same treatment. Although, our inlaws gave them money to buy a house and my FSIL/BIL are consisently borrowing things (lawn equipment, etc) from my Fi. Fi often needs these items at the same time, yet doesn't say anything when they borrow them. He feels bad because they need them, but can't afford them. I actually hate how FSIL uses him and then cries about how "unfairly" she is treated.

I know she is crazy, as she has started trouble w/ in laws before. How do I handle my ungrateful FSIL?

I dont like the idea of putting my kids on a leash and think it makes your kid look more like a pet. BUT....One of my kids(how'd you guess? a boy!). He wont be quite 4 when we go to Disney. He is very active and FAST. We will have a stroller and we do hold hands but were thinking about putting a harness on him or at least having it available, just because its a scary thought to lose him in such a big crowd. Id like the public's opinion on this. Would it be forgivable at Disney or just as abusive.
