Hello, they are reptiles/lizards, some are desert needing dry conditions like leopard gecko's ..some are tropical, needing more triopical & humid conditions, great bug control cuz they can climb anywhere a bug is, special pads on their feet allow them to cling to anything, even upside down..lucky would be to have them running around your home, tho I don't know of any that would or could chew anything but a bug..they haven't the teeth for that ...Take Care :)

Their are many types of geckos, gecko gecko aka tokay is known to be the pit bull of the gecko world one of the largest geckos in the world today. With red and white spot sometimes a dark gray or pale in color to hide form predators. It's known for it's loud bark black throat to scare away attackers.

a lizard native to the southern US and south west. Found in all warm areas, tropical or temperate..many different kinds of geckos.....they eat lots of bugs, are harmless and fun to have around. Usually a drab color of taupe with markings to camouflage themselves.

a gecko is a type of lizard. i have heard it is lucky to have them in your house, but with many in my house and no luck at all, that may be a myth,. they will apparently chew on electrical wiring and such. they are cute though.
