For me, i was the ODD BALL at school, the type of kid with a sock in pink and another in yellow.

As i turned a older teen, i was forced to grow up and start being sensible with my dress sense. It was mainly pressures that put me into this.

I like to be dressed into the latest fashion because i feel i fit in, and my insecurities dont raise to the surfaces once again.

Your more likely to be excepted if your modelled into the person that society wants you to be.

Herd instinct. Most people feel better in the center of the herd where it's "safe". Only the 'sickly or old' live on the fringes; maybe the crazy. At least, from the herd's perspective.

Some people like to be part of the crowd...others are more individualistic. People should do what pleases them with regard to fashion...whether it's join the crowd or be completely different.

And if you used spell check, you wouldn't have kept misspelling "what" (not 'wot'). ☺

Some people think the 'fad' isn't actually going to leave. Plus they want to be seen to be making an effort when dressing up.

I believe that you can do both. Style constantly changes to provide new products for consumers to buy; but that doesn't mean that your style has to change as frequently. Personally, I have learned what looks best on my body; and I don't deviate much from my own "look." However, it's fun to keep up with trends and make small changes (like accessories) to keep things looking new.

Ok just to let you know I am not really someone who follows fads...but....I beleive thats how people express themselves it makes some people feel better when they think they are like other people they want to be "in" that's who they are....in a way following fads is how they express themselves

i agree, but most people want to fit in with others, or wear what they think the "trendy" clothes are so they can seem cool or whatever...i prefer to do my own thing fashion-wise, i don`t care if other people like it or approve or whatever...i dress to impress myself, not some random people i don`t even know or care about!!!

Fitting in a group is one of peoples primal instincts. Belonging to a group and being accepted is what kept us alive thousands of years ago.

Usually these clothes are some of the only things you can buy in nice boutiques.
