Im an 18 yr old male in college in a relationship with one of the most beautiful women you'll ever see. Ever since I was little I would get talked down to and looked over by peers and even family members. I don't even know a time that I was confident or even thought about what I could do without 2nd guessing. I try and try to be, but it just won't work. This is ruining my relationship b/c I often worry about somebody taking my girlfriend from me b/c I think that someone could. What are some confidence boosters that could help me?

I was raised as a JW and baptised. I used to pioneer. SEveral years ago I simply stopped attending meetings. I lead a wholesome life. I have broken no rules. I am not disphellowshipped nor did I disassociate myself. Yet I am shunned. I've been yelled at in the supermarket by people I once considered close friends.

Why? Is there scriptual backing for that? Shouldn't I have been invited to the memorial at least once in the last 4 years? Shouldn't the elders have at least contacted me? Why am I being shunned?

I just starting reading this Q & A section a few days back. I am so shocked at the amount of hatred and venom some people throw at folks just trying to network. I'm straight, but my son, and some of my best friends are gay. Are you (as in LGBTs) subjected to this sort of ignorance and unjustified hatred frequently in the real world? If so, how in the world do you handle it?

Abortion is murder. To get an abortion is to not be a true Christian. What part of "thou shalt not kill" don't you understand?

Adults who are not Christian will go to Hell forever when they die. If you commit an abortion, even if you have accepted Jesus as your savior, you are not a true Christian and you will burn FOREVER.

The name of god (the christian god) is given in the earlier forms of the bible as YAHWEH. (the vowels are added in for english phonectic translation). This translates to JEHOVAH in greek.

There have been many historical uses of the name from saliors during the middle ages through to the 17-18th century to Roman texts that use the latin derivitive. Most famiously of recent times is the use in the movie Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, in which the hero needs to cross the pit with all the letters using the name of god.

However it seems that for most people this information is not known, they simply believe that the name of god in LORD (in caps due to the fact the jesus is also refered to as lord however in lower case) or GOD.

So my question is, why is gods name not used in either form YAHWEH or JEHOVAH and why is this so?
