You can change the OS drive to whatever you want, you just have to make sure that the drive you install it on is a bootable drive (i.e. a hard drive or cd drive) Knoppix is an OS that can be run from the cd drive and also installed on a hard drive and allows you to select which drive to install on,, you also have the option to partition the hard drive into multiple parts and install more than one OS on the same hard drive but different partitions....this can be done with Microsoft 98-Vista....during install you have the option to select where the OS gets installed, and if you choose to install it to a partition that has no Os and leave the current one reside wherever it is, when you reboot you will get the prompt to decide which to boot to.

Explains it somewhat....there are programs out there that allow you to resize existing partitions without losing any data as well.

I am going to say no to this question simply because of all the hassle that is involved.
It very much depends on what os you are using as to whether this will work.
Some O/S insist that they are installed on the c: drive
There are additional restrictions on the size of the c: drive or the drive where you intend to install the O/S.

I've done it before with and without a boot manager. You can just hit whatever hotkey your BIOS needs to select the boot device or boot order to select what operating system to use when your computer is starting up.

You may find this free boot manager helpful.
