I'm not 100% sure of being an astrophysicist, I might be a astrobiologist, astrochemist or just an astronomer. What do you study in University to become one of these? Are there any good Universities for Astronomy? In Canada? What degrees do you need? How many years of will it take? Where does an astrophysicist work? How much do they get paid? Do they get paid even if they suck at being an astrophysicist? These may be stupid questions, but I'm just trying to figure out how to make a living out of my hobby/obsession. Thank you for your time, nice people.

As a result of the Don Imus mess, hip hop is taking a lot of heat. People are saying that men need to stop using certain words; stop disrespecting women in their music. But, what about women disrespecting women?? There are some female recording artists that do the very same thing. How come no one is talking about that?

Not sure this is the best category for this question, but here goes.

I just read on Yahoo! News that Canada and Austrailia are planning to ban what they term "inefficient" incandescent light bulbs in favor of compact fluorescent bulbs. They claim the incandescent bulbs promote greenhouse emissions and the use of fluorescent bulbs will not only cute down on these emissions, but save users approximately $44 per year.

My question, don't the fluorescent bulbs contain small amounts of mercury and wouldn't this pose an environmental risk in the disposal of the bulbs? In America, one must have an EPA permit to dispose of them... so what happens if other countries are just throwing them away? No mention of disposal problems or solutions was mentioned in the article, but I'm curious how this will effect the environment if it goes through. The article states that incandescent bulbs will not be prohibited when they are the only appropriate alternative but still...

I'm english and learning french, but I wanted to listen to some french bands. I listen to mainly rock/pop-punk kind of bands like Fall Out Boy, Taking Back Sunday, Madina LakeRed Hot Chili Peppers, Snow Patrol, Evanescence, Blink 182.

Any ideas for good modern french bands I might like - French Canadian, French, Belgian whatever as long as they sing in french and are quite good?

How do you find the frame thickness of a picture frame that measures 17cm^2 by 19cm^2 if the area showing is equal to 137cm^2? I have been trying to work this and can not figure out what I am doing wrong.

I got to the point that 4x^2-72x+323=137 but can't get the answer to come out right. I keep getting 8.5cm as my answer. Anyone know?
