Man, I hate to say it, but Don Imus, as much as his comments were offensive and wrong, really didn't say anything much different from what many rappers have been saying for years. The only difference is that he is a white dude. I think it's right for him to lose his job over his irresponsible and disrespectful comments, but what gets me is that there are so many others (men of color) who have said things just as bad or worse about white women, black women and women in general, who will continue to hold a place of honor in our culture. Don Imus was obviously foolish in doing what he did, but judging him with a double standard isn't cool. If racism and mysogyny are really as unacceptable as many are suddenly claiming because of Imus, at what level are we willing to challenge it. It's cowardly to turn one middle aged white guy into a scapegoat when many artists from our own community are just as much a part of the problem.

I am twelve years old and my friends always go out to the mall together. My mom won't let me ever go shopping with them becasue she thinks I'm just "spending money". Well, that's not exactly the point - its spending money to GET THINGS. She won't let me ever go and my older sister, who can drive now, goes out practically every day after school to buy stuff. She makes me so jealous! Plus, my friends all have phones and she won't let me get one. My father was going to get me one becasue we had a contract that allowed you to get a free phone, but then we realized we had already used it. So he was GOING to get me a phone! And now I can't get one. Please help me, I am really frustrated.

We leased a Honda Pilot in 2004 it now has 28,000 miles. We have the option to buy it for $19,000. The other choice is buy a new or used car. If we do in fact buy our Honda it will only be for a year or two (because my wife "can't" drive a 4 or 5 year old car). My main goal is to have as little debt as possible. What should I do, buy the Honda and then have to finance a new/used car in a year or just buy a new/used now?

I am thinking about getting a DivX certified DVD player which should play DivX files. There are two main types out there: DivX and XviD. I was reading some site on the web and it mentioned that XviD can be played in DivX certified players but there may be some problem or something like that... Some players do show both DivX and XviD compatible sign, but there are very few that I've seen states that. So I am thinking, maybe those with just DivX may not play XviD files...

Has anyone played XviD movie files in DivX certified players?
Any problems? Issues? Which DivX player (brand and model number) did you use to play them?

my coworker's son was shot and killed outside a club by a man that was thrown out after arguing with a patron . As patrons started scattering for cover,the gunman started shooting, and got away, meanwhile , her son caught a stray bullet and died on the clubs premises. Can she sue and what agency can she contact? The lawyers she contacted are reluctant to take the case, she already recieved money to bury her son from the domestic violence agency.
