I just had to play the song "Ticks" for my boss because she couldn't believe a song where a guy uses "I'd like to check you for ticks" as a pick-up line exists. You can hear it here:

millions of babys die every day because people choose to abort there babies! is it fair that you have life and now you choose to kill another person. babies have brain function by the eighth week...think about it! In America we have the right to LIFE, liberty, and the persuit of happiness. Let's see how that works if you can choose to murder someone, and the gov. gives you permission and the means to do it. I have four dogs that live in the house. This morning, I saw a rat, not a mouse, behind my fridge. I don't want to hurt my dogs, but I sure don't want rats in my house either!! Does anyone have any ideas on what I can use in my house that will not harm my dogs but will take care of the rats? I put traps in a room where the dogs can not get, but they have free roam of the rest of the house. Thank you for your help.

i saw a tape of the oprah show where they had common and russel simmons. a lot of people feel that hip hop degrades women and most of it is just vulgar and it has a big impact on children's lives. however i feel differently. i mean there are a lot raps out there that do degrade women and all they talk about is sex. but if you're gonna blame the artists then you might as well blame the parents too. they have a way bigger part in this than anybody. if you let your child listen to this, you're just as part of the problem as anybody else. and if you don't like the message the music is bringing, DON'T LISTEN TO IT, plain and simple. it's not like the musicians are gonna stop making their songs just because you feel it's innappropiate. it's a shame that singing and rapping about sex and violence always sells but if that's what people like, it's gonna continue to be in music. but i have to say that hip hop or rap has never influenced me. i know my right from wrong.

I asked a similar question a few hours ago and coped an absolute canning for daring to suggest that owning a gun goes against what chistians stand for.

So I thought I might try to explain myself better.

Christianity is supposed to be a passive religion. While in the OT, God sent the Isrealites on the war path, in the new testament, it's very clear that Jesus was pretty keen on the "love thy enemy" bit.

Guns ARE designed to kill. Someone protested that they are for shooting, not killing. I say that's a silly semantic arguement. A gun that fires bullets is a lethal weapon.

Another said that knives kill people too, but that's up close. Guns can kill from a distance and from a hidden location.

I can't imagine, if Jesus was the messiah, and was alive today, that he'd own a gun or condon his followers owning one.

It just seems to go against everything that christianity is supposed to stand for.

Or are christians meant to be violent rather than pacifists?

first one needs to resolve that the book is feasibly factual in suspected origin, given there is no source of evidence, this is a matter of faith.
then i notice that some decide which version they choose to follow.
apparently king james is popuar, is this because it sounds like the best deal, and easiest to stick to.
finally, evidently all who believe have a differing interpretation of the contents, whether its guessing, assimilating to ones lifestyle, word of mouth or what seems fair.
concidering all these variables, with no referece of definition, how can this be construed as a factual document, worthy of the life long dedication of so many

I am so mortified as my 8yo daughter took a "book" she made to school that had cut out cartoon pictures of sexual positions pasted it. I had suggested she do a collage of pictures cut out of magazines, and there must have been a Cleo or Cosmo in there with a "sealed" section or something she found. She knew it was wrong, as she started crying as soon as she knew I had been told by the teacher and she had labelled the "book" as "top secret". She is embarrassed and devastated (as am I!). I haven't given her the "sex talk" yet as I feel she is too young, but I am wondering what is going on in the playground that made her do this? I know that the third graders talk occasionally of "sex" but I sincerely believe none of them really know what it means. How should I deal with this problem? I believe she was showing off at school but I am wondering what on earth gave her the idea to do it in the first place! Her teacher is very supportive and believes the matter is at an end.
