I am an inexperienced seamstress trying to make roman shades for my bedroom. I have just started to use a new machine--or new to me; it's a rebuilt Sears Kenmore machine, simple but highly serviceable. (I got a copy of the manual from Sears.)

Here's the problem. When I sew forwards and backwards and forwards again to get started and keep the thread from unravelling, the thread knots, the needle gets stuck, and I have to ease the fabric out with great care and cut through a major rat's nest of thread on the underside of the fabric.

I am currently trying to sew loop tape to a simple cotton panel in order to make Roman shades, but I have the same problem when I try to sew backwards and forwards again on scrap cotton. I think my tension is okay (?). The thread I am using is somewhat thick. I am not sure what other specifics to offer.

Can anyone tell me how to solve my problem so I can take down the old sheet that is currently covering my window?

My girlfriend and I have just got engaged. We have been together for 4 years and we are very happy. Trouble is I work in a city 80 miles from her and its impossible for me to change jobs as I run a big business there. She can change easier as she is a school teacher. Trouble is all her friends and family live in her city so she doesn't want to move away from them. I can't see the point in us getting married if we can't live together in the same city. Is she selfish? Should she move for our future? Should I do a nightmare commute for her?

i need to answer it in complete sentences in spanish.

2. ¿Cómo describiría Ud. el carácter del tango?

What would be a good hairstyle for me to get? Right now I have hair right below my shoulders, and side swept bangs. I have a long narrow face shape and very straight hair. My hair is fine, but I have a lot of it. I am in my early 20's, so I want a cute young haircut that is fairly easy to do. Thanks for your help! No mullets or mohawks please. :)

Why is it that some people on here who do not believe in God and tell us who do that we are stupid and morons and that we should think blah blah blah......still feel a need to hold us to some religious standard?
If you don't believe in God, what right do you have to make comments like "Oh so Christian of you to insult others" etc...or "Does God approve of...?"

the other thing that bothers me is that people honestly seem to think that all Christians are alike, and it is sooo far from the truth. Mormons are not like Catholics....Protestants are not like Baptists...etc...and then there are Christians who are non-denominational and don't believe that there should be "religious" groups. That a Christian is merely someone who follows the teachings of Christ and believes that He died for our sins and rose again.

I ask what proof there is and Christians give me quotes from the Bible (I know nothing about the Bible) and somehow expect me to believe the Bible is real just because somebody wrote it. There is no proof that the Bible was not just a bunch of fables. It certainly was written at that time stated, but someone could have written myths about how God is real and how Jesus was divine because back then, they liked to believe and write myths. Look at Greece. They believed for the longest time that Zeus and Pluto were real gods, and we have documents dating back to that time that contained stories about Zeus and Pluto, and how powerful they were. I don't see any difference between the Greek stories and the Bible.

I found mine which says:
This was derived from the Hebrew word שׁוֹשָׁן (shoshan) meaning "lily" (in modern Hebrew this also means "rose"), perhaps ultimately from Egyptian sšn "lotus". In the New Testament this is the name of a woman who ministered to Christ. It also occurs in the Old Testament Apocrypha as the name of a woman falsely accused of adultery. The prophet Daniel clears her name by tricking her accusers, who end up being condemned themselves.

I was messing around in my system configuration the other day and I noticed that HT was off for my Pent 4 processor. That must be the default from Dell, because I have never changed it before. I was wondering why it would be off. Plus, are there any drawbacks to running your hard drive on "performance" rather than "bypass" other than extra noise? I turned the processor to HT "on" and hard drive to "performance" for some extra juice, if there is no reason why not to.
