I find Jesus' teachings enlightening but then I look at the church, and many self-proclaimed 'Christians', and realise I want to live like Jesus taught, but not to be associated with Christian culture and the church (which seems corrupt and the exact opposite of what Jesus taught anyway).

Is this unusual, and does anyone agree with me?

PS, I'd like to say I don't mean ALL christians are objectionable, far from it, so please don't bite my head off! Just that very few of the 'Christians' I have met actually exhibit characteristics defined by Christ!

What I mean is that I want to live life like Jesus taught, but with none of the mumbo-jumbo of modern organised religion attached.

The bodhisattva Maitreya is predicted to be the one who will succeed Śākyamuni (Gautama) as the next Samasambuddha. Found in the canonical literature of all Buddhist sects (Theravāda, Mahāyāna and Vajrayāna), it is predicted that he would be a "world ruler" and expound the Dharma when "the teachings of the current Buddha Gautama, the Dharma, are no longer taught and are completely forgotten."

After reading about Maitreya, the entire foundations of my belief and notions about Buddhism seems to have convulsed and cracked as I have always thought that Buddhism was free from eschatological doctrines and melodramas like these, unlike the Abrahamic religions. Things like Tushita Heaven and prophecies like the one above seem to have made Buddhism just like every other organized religion out there, which was something I thought it wasn't.

So what should I make of this? And with Buddhist teachings stressing on the present and the 'here-and-now', what should I do about this future coming?

Ok, so I've known this guy for about 3 months now, and we have just starting hanging out as more than friends the past couple weeks. He already says he loves me (not sure if he means he LOVES me, or if he loves me like a friend and maybe more). But we are both just getting out of long-term relationships and I know that I'm not ready for another long-term. I really love spending time with him and everything, but I'm afraid that he's going to get too attached. We have been completely honest with each other and have agreed that this isn't going to work out in the long run but we can still be together right now, but I don't know if I can take the chance of hurting him. He's been hurt by so many people in the past. Should I keep going as more than friends or should we slow it down for a little while? Also, I don't know if he really means he loves me or if this is just a stupid thing that guys say to try to get you to have sex... HELP!?!?!?!

Id like it to be relaxing, but the brown on the comforter are somewhat subtle and the red curtains are REALLY red. I'd be more willing to part with the comforter than the curtains. The furniture isnt a factor because I'm going to repaint it to match once I choose a wall color. I'm open as to a theme. I'd like it to be relaxing. If its a little dramatic thats okay too. I'm awful with choosing wall color. Too indecisive. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
