Not sure how much an Air Force pilot makes now days. On the civilian side of things, most pilots start out as a flight instructor making any where from $6/hr to $30/hr. At a regional you will start out around $20,000/year and gradually make close to $100,000 after about 15 years. At a major, you will start out around $30,000/year and top out around $200,000 after 20 years.
Pay at the airlines depends on how long you have been there, what airplane you are flying, and if you are a captain or first officer.
The bad thing is if you are at a regional making $75,000 after 8 years and you want to go to a major, you have to go back to first year pay making $30,000/year. You don't see that in hardly any other industry.

It depends on your defintion of 'starting'
A pilot with a fresh commercial and CFI may only make an hourly, based on actual flight time while instructing, so if he flies at all, maybe $25-50 per day.
My first commercial job paid $1000 per month for a six month season.
I've talked with First Officers flying with regional airlines, and they all said typical starting is about $1500-2000 per month, or about $18-24k per year. It does rise fairly quickly with experience, but the starting downright sucks.

Most civilian pilots start as flight instructors working at FBO schools. After the FBO's take they instructor gets about $15/hr. Figure about 6 hours of billable time per day max.

commercial pilots like a southwest pilot can make 120-240 grand.. it mostly depends on how many years they have flown and what type of plane they are flying..
private pilot...
i dont know much but i read up and has i remeber they make $60,000
airforce pilots....
depends on your rank... and how many years you have been with them
going into the airforce is a good way to get into the airline business.. most airlines are looking for people witha lot fof flying hours
thus bringing an airforce pilot into the shining light!
now getting back to howe much they get payed...
i am not sure but my estimate are 20 grand-120 grand
all of these salaris are marked in the payment of unites states os american dollars..
if you want to convert them into a differnt countries worth of money you must find it for yourself..

looking at these salaries pilots in the US get paid crap! But in the UK you will get a lot more!!
For someone that wants to be a pilot looking at the above salaries might discourage them as they are pretty low campred to what a pilot makes from airlines in the UK.

When I started a few years ago, I made 27,000 before taxes... that was a paycut from almost 30,000 as a CFI... So the answer is... not much... but its gotten slightly better for starters and its gotten ALOT better for me in my 3rd year... just a modest living but I'm doing what love... FOR MONEY!!!
