According to the web site below, fish are in a different category because they do not live off the land.

Fish is meat. The whole Good Friday thing is not about it being considered meat. Nothing's wrong with eating meat. Lent is really about how Jesus multiplied the bread and wine to make it enough to feed everyone. that's what eating fish on good friday is supposed to symbolize.

But fish is meat that's why vegetarians don't consider ppl who still eat fish to be vegetarians. As long as it's a living animal it's meat.

You can thumbs down me if you want but I growing up my family was very religous. I was in a catholic school for nine years of my life and that's the story of lent!!

Because it's fish.Catholics weren't allowed to eat meat on fridays a long time ago and some denominations still don't.They just don't consider it meat.

I think it's because they are cold blooded and they lay eggs. but all and all, it is still considered meat just in a separate catagory.
