We just got a new puppy. She's about 4 months old now. We are going to a family members place on the weekend just for the evening, but since she isn't house trained completely yet I don't want to give her the run of their house. We'd like to tie her outside, maybe bring her in periodically. How long can I leave her outside for? We will be visiting for about 5 to 6 hours. It's still a little chilly outside, but it is supposed to be 7C and sunny on friday... any answers would be appreciated. We're new to all of this! Thanks :)

Me and my husband have been happily married for 8 years. We had 2 kids, one 4 the other 6.Three month ago my younger son Jordon passed away from cancer and it just about killed me.I wasn't dealing at all and left town a month after the funeral to stay with an ex-boyfriend/good friend to get myself together, leaving my husband and 6 yr old on their own.I stayed away for 3 months because I just couldn't deal with being at home where everything reminded me of my son.I came home last week and although my son was overjoyed to see me,my husband has barely said a word to me since I left.He begged me to come home whenever I called but I was never ready until now and now it seems it's too late and he can't forgive me for leaving.I don't believe in getting professional help. What do I do?

(yes, this is an allegory)

As a left-handed person, I always felt like an outcast in school because almost all of my classmates were different from me. They would all use their right hand when cutting and writing, yet I had to use my left hand because I'm a southpaw. Even my teacher uses her right hand!

I say we should take pens, pencils, markers, crayons, and scissors out of public schools, because seeing right handers use their right hands is discriminatory to the small minority of left handers who can't use them. It's my constitutional right not to feel like an outcast in school, don't you agree?

I was stuck behind a school bus on its route, of course I stopped behind it when the stop sign/lights flashed came on, but once it started to move I thought I could pass, as it was a 2 lane road with dashed lines in the middle? No on coming cars so I accelerated mildly to get around it. Just up ahead was another group of kids/parents waiting for it, one of the dads saw me do this and stepped right out infront of me so I was forced to stop.
then he lectured me I was doin way more than 35 ( I was'nt as I saw the kids up ahead and did'nt pass 35 on my digital speedo) I told him it was legal for me to pass, he said it was'nt and what I did was wrong/dangerous.
Was he right or was it legal for me to do this!?? I feel bad now..

another great baseball role model for our kids to worship. How can you be smart enough to manage multiple egos and win the World Series, but not smart enough to call a cab?
One ESPN analyst said that Tony had won a "mulligan", and that everything was fine.
What does one do to get a mulligan for breaking the law. ..especially a law that could easily take someone elses life?

do you believe in god? and did he give us freewill, as some people say? or are our lives pre-ordained, where everything we do has been carefully planned out ahead of time, by god?

I never considered voting for Obama until I saw that ad. It finally portrayed Hillary for what she is.

In case you haven't seen it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6h3G-lMZxjo

Unfortunately, he didn't man up and claim it like he should have, so I will have to go back to my previous position, not even considering voting for him.

Finally a politician has enough chutzpah to tell the truth, and he runs away with his tail between his legs. I should have figured. He IS a Democrat after all. I am surprised the entire Democratic party combined has enough chutzpah to walk across the street every day, much less to make such a telling commercial.

I guess I'll have to wait another four years for a good politician. In the meantime, I'll settle with John McCain.

About resources to help vulnerable people - physically disabled, elderly, abused children and woman, or just single mothers - if they suffer injustices who can help them? This is a particular difficult thing to deal with when people do these things to people WITHIN the law. Just as example, read the following: When my mother was a widow and the mother of her first two children, a lawyer cheated her out of her house. An elderly friend had the same thing happen to him recently. With people I care for involved, I'm sure you know why I'm concerned about this issue. Sometimes money or knowledge is all that's needed to do these things to people without penalties.

Previous good answer:
If you are seriously looking for research/statistics info, go to your local health department, look on the Web, there numerous organizations geared to handle questions RE: the dis-enfranchised populations, disabled, mental impairment, child abuse, just type in type in the search area the subject.
