Just tell her what you said here. Trust me - as tight as money is in most households - she would rather you be honest than to spend money on something you are not going to wear. Suggest that you go shopping together next time. Another thing my step-daughter and daughter did was to make wish lists on popular clothing sites like Urban Outfitters, Delias, alloy, etc. I learned about their tastes that way and could actually purchase items directly from those sites that they like. It makes me feel MUCH better than to find things I bought stuffed in the back of their closets! Your honesty will not hurt her feelings if you just explain that your style and taste in clothes is changing as you get older.

Hmm... that can be tough. Here are a few things that you could try to say.
"Mom, I'm really glad that you considered me while you were shopping, but those shirts just aren't something I'd wear."
"I don't think that the shirts you bought look good on me, they're nice, but not for me."
"I HATE THE FKIN SHIRTS!"
Yeah... just chose something that you would normally say, but try to put it nicely.

this is a difficult situation, and i know that u don`t want to hurt your mom`s feelings or make her angry...just explain to her that they`re not really your style...tell her you appreciate the gesture, but next time maybe she could buy u a gift certificate, or maybe even give u some cash, & that way u can be sure to get the type of clothing u like...tell her u don`t want to hurt her feelings, but it is better to be honest so that it doesn`t happen again in the future!!!

You can say "Mom, I really appreciate that you got those shirts for me, I really do, but I'm not sure they're my style."

Never live your life for people. If you don't like it just tell her. You could tell her that you appreciate the fact that she was thinking about you, but next time she should get a gift card.

Tell your Mom they didn't fit you properly. Get the receipt from her and exchange them for something you like. I'm sure your Mom wouldn't want you to waste money.

You can try wearing them, just to please her, after all she had good intentions when she bought them...She deserves your acceptance of her shirts, even if you do not really like them.
