another great baseball role model for our kids to worship. How can you be smart enough to manage multiple egos and win the World Series, but not smart enough to call a cab?
One ESPN analyst said that Tony had won a "mulligan", and that everything was fine.
What does one do to get a mulligan for breaking the law. ..especially a law that could easily take someone elses life?

wiseguy: You actually do have to be able to read an entire sentence.
Heres a tip for you - to help in the future. Look for the "?" There will be a sentence right before that mark. Just kinda scaaaaan back until you see a "." Once you see the period, start reading to the right>

He can be "tired" at home or anywhere else he chooses..so long as it doesnt endanger someone elses lives.
I am sure there are a few hundred people in prison right now that would tell you..yea, I was just tired..had a couple of beers and thats all..had been up for a long. I didnt even see the kid run out in front of me and couldnt react quick enough to keep from KILLING THEM!
There are also a few hundred thousand people that could tell you: when I am that tired..and especially after I have had a drink, I call a cab or a friend...you know..you keep from KILLING PEOPLE.

I'm surprised. I really always thought LaRussa was a class act person and very good for the game.

Apparently he's just another moron who doesnt care about the consequences of doing something as stupid as drunk driving.

Answer - a mulligan is a free re-do, a la golf. He probably got it because he would have been legal a few years ago when the limit was .10. There is descretion involved. I too am a Cubs fan (aka masochist) and can't hate on Tony for this. He was much more tired than drunk. Have none of you lighting him up for this never been drowsy while driving? I have. A couple beers or not (which is about all it takes to get to .09), my money is on that he was just whipped.

I don't know what time it was, but if it was real late and he was only at .09, it is obvious he wasn't hitting the bottle too hard. The fact that he was 100% cooperative indicates he had his wits about him. Cut the guy a break. Any of you old enough to drink that do so have probably gotten behind the wheel once when you shouldn't have. People that live in glass houses.........

Yes a lawyer getting a DUI,it will get swept under the rug like all of the other celebs that get theirs dropped.I fully admit that I have done that same thing as most if not all people that go drink at a bar .Its getting to the point where the goverement has to step in and provide rides home for these people that drink at bars. There could be thousands and thousands that are not caught, that should have been,At this point in our society
its such a mulit-million dollar industry with the rehab fees and insurnance rates.I believe if the goverement was so worried about this problem there would be mass transit. With all the millions of dollars going into so called re-hab programs, they could have a free ride program and not just on New-YearsEve.

These guys start their day at the crack of dawn to get in practice before the pre-season games each day. Tony was probably just trying to wind down by having a couple of drinks and was completely wiped out from such a packed schedule. Give the guy a break everybody. If he had only fallen asleep while waiting for the light to change, then this wouldn't have even made it on the news, but since some alcohol was involved . . .

A DUI is a very big deal in this country. It's one of the top killers.

He had no business behind the wheel of a car. Besides what does he have to be drunk about? His team is the world champs.

Call a cab Tony. Than God he didn't hit any one.

im an avid cubbie fan, and i cant even hate on this guy. Yes it was a stupid mistake, but no you should not be out there crusifying this guy for a dui. ill bet more than half your responders have duis, and are you bashing them?? why was it no big deal for ray lewis to kill a man, and now its a crime against humanity for someone to get a dui?? damn media, always needs something to talk about. Forget the larussa dui and worry more about bigger issues like the ongoing saga that is the NBA and their players shooting, beating up, and just causing havoc in general.

I am a HUGE Cardinals fan but i do agree with you that there is no excuse for Tony to have to be arrested with a DUI. He is rich enough that he could of paid for a cab. Why did he do it? Who knows

I'm disgusted over this. Tony should know better than that. Cardinal fans are never going to hear the end of this!

Why is anybody surprised at this kind of news anymore? It's not like we've never heard this kind of story before.
