"Within every faith one can see people arranged along a spectrum of belief. Picture concentric circles of diminishing reasonableness: At the center, one finds the truest of true believers - the Muslim jihadis, for instance, who not only support suicidal terrorism but who are the first to turn themselves into bombs; or the Dominionist Christians, who openly call for homosexuals and blasphemers to be put to death." However, mathematicians study symmetries in higher dimensions. In fact, E8 itself is 248-dimensional.

Today string theorists search for a theory of the universe by looking at E8 X E8.

The scientists said the magnitude of the E8 calculation invited comparison with the Human Genome Project.

While the human genome, which contains all the genetic information of a cell, is less than a gigabyte in size, the result of the E8 calculation, which contains all the information about E8, is 60 gigabytes in size, they said.

This is enough to store 45 days of continuous music in MP3-format. If written out on paper, the answer would cover an area the size of Manhattan.

This was from an article in Yahoo! news stating that some scientists and mathmaticians finally calculated the E8 galaxy structure thinga majigger.

My question is about the part where it talks about gigabytes.

I thought a gigabyte was like a measurement of computer memory...but then it says the E8 thing

Hi everyone that answered all me questions about my crazy bunny. I wanted to let you know he has turned into the sweetest little guy, all the crazy biting, and charging me is over. I can stick my hand in his cage and even clean in there now! He's curious but not trying to gnaw my arm off.

Thanks for all the advice, I'm glad I didn't give up. He's a joy to have:)

The local dentist only uses anesthesia, so I was wondering if the majority has been sedated during the surgery or not. And did it hurt? Even if you're sedated?

There was a program on British tv recently that claimed that CO2 concentration lagged global temperature. This means that if you put them both on a graph together, peaks and lows of CO2 occur AFTER peaks and lows of global temperature. This is, they say, because CO2 concentration in the oceans is reduced as global temperatures increase and therefore collects in the atmosphere.

Global temperatures are, they say, driven by solar activity that is related to sunspot activity. They then produced a graph that did indeed show a very strong relationship between the two. They also produced a graph showing the relationship between CO2 and global temperatures for the same duration and the relationship was not nearly so clear?

What is the defense of CO2 driven global warming theorists to this?
