My husband has plantar fasciitis and uses heel lifts and receives cortisone injections as needed (usually evry 6 to 8 months) to control his symptoms. He has never done therapy, but the doctor said if it continues, he will need it. I also know that if PT, cortisone, heel lifts and anti inflammatory meds don't work, you could have a plantar fascia release performed. You have to try and fail all other coservative measures first though. Good Luck.

I actually have this and have had this for 8 years, I had pain for about 18 months straight and now only once in a great while. I refused to go to a foot doctor due to past experience. My experience and I don't know if this will help you at all, was to follow a diet that you would follow for Gout, do stretches to stretch the bottom of the foot. (using a towel to pull my toes towards me) And I used a Neoprene ankle brace but cut off the top of the brace just so the compression and support was around the foot area. This did take a little time to get used to but after that, I found it very helpful. Soaking my feet in cold, if I could stand it Ice water. Always wear good shoes and replace often. Planter F is a inflamatory condition with muscles and tendons being to short (reason for stretching) This is what I know and what I did, I don't know if this will help you are not. Oh and if you can stay off your foot for about two weeks to at first that will help too.

I have had pf for almost 2 years now. I did the ultrasound and it made it worse. I would do the stretching right away if I were you. I waited too long & now I can't stretch very well. Also, night splints worked well for me but I didn't keep doing it. I also bought $100 running sneakers and wear them everyday. I have a custom made orthotics in them also. Make sure you insist on a good podiatrist. Mine is surgery happy so I don't feel I got good treatment from him. The podiatrist should suggest all kinds of measures to try and correct it as soon as possible. Go on the internet for more info. there is alot of info. Best advise is do all you can now while it is still a new condition.

I had a couple ultrasound treatments for my plantar fasciitis. Truth be told, it felt really good. Also, the stretch that seemed to help me the most was rolling a tennis ball around with my foot.

I suffered for months with this, walking was agony and even with the weight off my feet the pain was unbearable, I could hardly walk when I got up in the mornings. Podiatrists couldn't help, I went to Boots (UK drugstore) and bought heel inserts for around £20, within weeks my feet were cured...no word of a lie.

get arches for your shoes and wear them faithfully. Keep stretching on the steps. It takes about 6 months to get better. My husband saw some inserts on tv and tried them- they worked- I used Dr Scholls- that worked too.
I don't think ultra sound works- that is just an imaging machine.

I had them about 7 years ago and received ultrasound to treat them. It does work.
Have you received them through exercise? if so you should be changing your training shoes more often!
