I feel your pain. I had the WORST heartburn with my first child. I felt like I was on fire half the time. Unfortunately, it only went away after he was born. It's been a lot more tolerable with my current pregnancy. Just keep a bottle of Tums nearby. That's what saved me :) Also, try to keep track of which foods cause the most heartburn, so that you can try to avoid them.
Good luck!

This is my third pregnancy and the first time in my life I've had heartburn. My doctor doesn't allow multi dosing of tums or maalox or any of those other drugs. That was fine with me, because I'm don't like to take anything unless I absolutely have to. I did some researching and found one person who recommended eating a 6-8 almonds whenever heartburn would flare up or before a meal. I was so miserable before, but now it barely bothers me. My doctor has started recommending it to his other patients as well. Almonds have lots of vitamins and healthy fats. It can't hurt. It's definitely better than chugging maalox. Good luck.

37 weeks and still have heart burn at times, did last night.
Your best bet is to stay away from spicy foods and tomatoes always gives me heart burn so watch out for that too.
After you eat your meal try not to bend over or raise your hands above your head.
Eventually, as the baby drops heart burn will ease up but you will probably continue to get heat burn through out the entire pregnancy.
Keep a bottle of Maalox on hand. I always kept a small travel size in my purse and a big bottle at home, it works faster than the Tums or any ones that you have to chew, stick to the liquid.

Oh, I am so sorry...I had it so bad I got erosion of my esophagus. I got heartburn from water. Tums are great, and they are not bad for you or the baby. Keep them with you and pop them as much as needed, the calcium in them is actually good for you. I think mine stopped at about 6-7 months, just kind of out of the blue I didn't have it anymore.

Sorry to say it.. but once the baby comes out. I get it horribly and am almost 31 weeks along. You still have a ways to go. Try tums. It helps for a minute! Good luck

I had it horribly with my twins. The doctor finally gave me a script for something stronger. Before that though, I tried Tums and he suggested milk of magnesia (tastes horrible but it worked sometimes). If its interrupting your sleeping, talk to the doc and see what s/he suggests. Best of luck

You need to contact your doctor but in the meantime, watch your diet. Stay away from spicy foods, caffeinated drinks, chocolate, foods that have acidity, such as tomatoes, citrus, etc. Deleting those foods should bring you some relief.
