I have a Shiba Inu and he has a hard time keeping his weight. (He has a very high metabolism.) He is under weight so I am looking for a healthy food with an abundance of calories. So I wanted to know which food is better between the two? Which has more calories? I haven't been able to find the calories per cup for NB.

My Vet was going to prescribe him a high calorie food but her stock was out. He's at 17 lbs and his ideal is 21-ish, so she said to put him on a high calorie food. Thanks for the answers so far.

Natural Balance has a much lower meat content than Solid Gold.

A suggestion if you do not mind, foods with high meat contents will help to build more muscle without putting fat on the dog

So if considering Solid Gold I would suggest Barking at the Moon, or Innova EVO

but if you rally do not want to go that high with protein and just want to try going with calories

solid gold Hund-n-Flocken Calories per cup, 367
Natural Balance - Ultra Premium Dry Dog Food 485 Kcal/cup
Wellness - Super5Mix Chicken 407 Kcal/cup
Innova - Dog( the regular not the EVO) 557 Kcal/cup
California Natural - Chicken Meal & Rice 511 Kcal/cup
Canidae all lifestages 468 Kcal/cup
Eagle Pack - Holistic Select Lamb Meal & Rice 402 Kcal/cup

One thing I also suggest is taking a fecal sample into the vet to rule out internal parasite or organisms such as giardi

in addition to ontario greys' excellent answer, i would add that you should confirm with your vet that the dog really NEEDS to add weight.
Far too many dogs are overweight (and in some cases, downright obese) and their owners do not realize it and rarely do their vets point this out.
You may find out that the weight your dog is carrying is correct for the dog.
