I recently bought the novel 100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. When I got home, I remembered that the novel is originally written in Spanish and I thought to myself that it would be better to read it in the original language (Coincidentally my mother received a copy in spanish so now I have two). Now I'm about to read it in Spanish and I will read it in English to see how much a difference exists between the two.

So many great novels have been translated into various languages. Do you believe that there is something lost in the translation of these novels besides it not being in the original words of the author? If the message is the same, is there any real difference? Have any of you experienced this with anything you have read?

I've been thinking this over since many of the books I purchased lately have been translated from another language. Although I can read Spanish, I can't read Turkish or Portuguese.

Any comments and thoughts would be appreciated.

I disagree Darwin and other so called scientists about human intelligence. I believe intelligence is mostly shape up who we grow up. Saying of that with out farther do if we raid several children from all sort of races in the world do you think they could have the same intelligent as long as we are not exposing them to the outside biased world. Im 21 and she's 19. We've been having sex since 2005, but lately Ive just been having thoughts about if she were to get pregnant, I could not handle that right now, nor she and I also would like to just hold off having sex for the sake of my religion (I'm a catholic) She uses the pill, but still, I know its not 100% effective. Shes told me that she would stop having sex with me if the day came where I wanted to wait until we were married, so I know she wouldnt have a problem with it. Its just me...I dont know if I could resist the temptation...Any advice?

ive tried so many diets and they dont stick i seem to stay hungry all the time i eat when im bored depress wrong times of the day .it doesnt help that i drive for a living so im allways sitting all the time .i just gotta new job that involves moving around .so many different methods of losing weight one person says its good another says its bad .im mean different diets im 32 yrs old and its effecting me really bad im so ashamed and its taking affect on my sex drive in my relationship its very low i saw a picture of my self and i couldnt believe it was me i was crushed on the inside dont know what to do ......lost .....help

I just really want to know what IBS feels like and if there are ne ways to treat it..?? i have no idea what this may be that i have...but IT REALLY BOTHERS ME TO READ THAT THE DOCTORS CANT FIND THE CAUSE..?? i am working with a big, respectable company as an engr, but my profile is mostly low end. Besides my salary is also low, and the raise was meagre.
My friends tell me there are better opportunities for me, they can get me those. those guys are like 50 % higher than me in terms of salary.
i like my company and respect my senior colleagues. but i fear if i stay here i'll not get the bigger opportunity i m looking for, will be mostly confined to somewhat low end, and will take forever moneywise (maybe 2-3 years) to get salary which i can get now, by which time the salaries wud've risen further.
i've changed closed to 4 jobs in 4 years. first was 5 months part time. then 2 yrs 2 months, then 1 year and now this one - 9 months now.
to complicate issues futher im doing a part time exec mgmt course which will finish by August. so i gotta work in this country only.
should i go ahead and start looking for a job ? and try the overseas opportunity which i think might be possible.

My boyf of almost 2yrs asked me to move in with him on Valentines Day over dinner. Well now it seems like he wants to take it back. He hasnt said it, but hes asking weird questions and hinting on maybe hes changed his mind. I finally just asked him straight up did he still want to live 2gether. His answer waas"sure". Im like what??! Then he says u dont have to move in if u dont want to i was just trying to make u happy. My response was no thank you, id rather u want me there bcause u know in ur heart u do. Is it me or should i just avoid this subject from now on?

Sometimes its worse and I have to shut it down, and restart. Then it is ok. I have windows 98, could this be the problem?If I install windows xp, will this help? It makes a crunchy sound when it gets slow.

My brother was recently murdered and we have all of his personal belongings. We found that he had a Yahoo Mail account and we'd like to get into the mail to see if there may be anything of use to us as a family. However we don't know what the protocol is, do we request to Yahoo? Or is there a type of ...master passcode a sort of one size fits all in the...'password'..'techie' world?
