And men wonder why and how the feminist movement came to be. Your "punchline" comment.....no pun intended, right?

Indeed! Why isn't violence against BOTH men and women considered offensive?
Violence against women is NOT comical; people will stare daggers at you if you make jokes about such things. Talk about Lorena Babbitt, however, and you might get a few laughs out of some people. Are the reasons why mysterious?
It's not "Violence against Women," Baba Yaga; it just happens that lots of males (probably mostly teenagers) observe the way assholes treat women and girlfriends (often some of the jocks out there) and get nothing but giggles and smiling in return. It makes a lot of guys think, WHAT THE ****?! Girls that send out messages like that COMPLETELY screw with a man's (or boy's) respect for a woman and belief in her interests and desires.
To answer your question, yes, you are missing the punchline, because there IS NO PUNCHLINE. The majority of these statements are actually stabs at feminists (like the "How do I stop my wife from doing the rape on me" which described a hairy and grouchy woman (certainly a caricatured feminist) that was supposedly trying to rape the poster), NOT at women. They are stabs at rhetoric sputtered by some crazy feminists (like how women are infinitely more moral, don't rape, and don't abuse people).
It's easy to see threats and acrimony in statements but a lot more difficult to actually analyze them for what they're worth, as well as in what message they are trying to portray.

just controversy and antagonization for the sake of it, mostly born of boredom. Except stuff like the rape rate tripling in Sweden. That seems a legitimate question for this forum, even if the author did try to sort-of inexplicably link it to feminism.
By the way Tianjinga, I believe "wifebeaters" are v-necked Tee-shirts. Like the kind we see the guys that live in trailers wearing on "Cops." Usually they have gravy stains all over them and big guts and hairy navels hanging out the bottom half. Usually worn by a guy that's cuffed and being dragged out to a cruiser while a big, fat drunk woman chases after them and yells a lot of crap to the cops like: "Ah'm tared uh him kickin' mah ahss!!" then falls flat on her face. And are usually back living with the guy as soon as he's bailed out.

Yeah I know! *Stamps foot* Why, would people latching onto an issue that people were previously taking seriously and making bizarre and ironically fallacious claims about the subject and deliberately putting themselves in situations that might lead to the issue being relevant for them, or simply lying about it - for the purpose of being taken seriously - be laughed at instead of get taken seriously?!?
In fact until they take my men are evil monsters hurting poor pure blameless women all the time so give me attention ramblings seriously I'm holding my breath. *Holds breath and stamps foot* Seriously, I could die as a result of my protest against these people finding rape funny because of my stupid claims. I COULD DIE. DO YOU WANT THAT ON YOUR CONSCIENCE?!
Anyone?

A better question is, why is violence against men a joke but against women it is a crime?
As the punch line of thousands of jokes, men have been slapped, kicked, punched, and shoved for decades in comedy movies and on TV sitcoms for decades. Many thousands of scenes of this.
Why isn't violence against BOTH men and women considered offensive?

Yes, the questions I see on yahoo answers are quite disturbing. Whether it is this, or racist remarks, or hatred towards gay people, and sick sexual stuff. There are also a lot of people who have awful grammar, can't type, and don't know how to put some words together to make a decent question. There are definitely a lot of stupid, ignorant, and basically fuc*** up people in this world.

none of these questions sound comical. a couple don't sound very thought provoking, but i think they are sincere.
by the way, wifebeaters are what we call tank tops or muscle shirts and they got their name because they were often worn by men who beat their wives, or so it was thought.

Violence against women was never comical. But I think that it is on the increase because men are being taught to be more like women and release their emotions and let out their anger. Hence men are releasing their emotions and releasing self-restraint, which leads to violence.
