i am working with a big, respectable company as an engr, but my profile is mostly low end. Besides my salary is also low, and the raise was meagre.
My friends tell me there are better opportunities for me, they can get me those. those guys are like 50 % higher than me in terms of salary.
i like my company and respect my senior colleagues. but i fear if i stay here i'll not get the bigger opportunity i m looking for, will be mostly confined to somewhat low end, and will take forever moneywise (maybe 2-3 years) to get salary which i can get now, by which time the salaries wud've risen further.
i've changed closed to 4 jobs in 4 years. first was 5 months part time. then 2 yrs 2 months, then 1 year and now this one - 9 months now.
to complicate issues futher im doing a part time exec mgmt course which will finish by August. so i gotta work in this country only.
should i go ahead and start looking for a job ? and try the overseas opportunity which i think might be possible.

The biggest question you need to ask yourself is this. Am I happy at this job? If you are great! Who cares what you get paid as long as its enough to pay the bills and put a little on the side to save and invest. If not, which is what I'm guessing from what you've said, then I would start looking for something better.

I think it's important for you to take a look at your career and life goals and values. Find something that will lead you in the direction of your goals. Don't let the job hopping become an excuse to stay in a job you don't like.. if you were job hopping I'm guessing it's because they weren't jobs for you, that's alright. Keep in mind what it is that you didn't like about those jobs and what you did like when you search for a new job. Use it to create a vision of the ideal job for you in your mind and search for it.. you may not find exactly the same thing as your vision but you may be suprised what you find! I know I was. :) ( I ended up with a position that so far is exciting and challenging for me, which I love, and one I had absolutely no experience or education for! how bout them apples!?)

there is advantages on the two components: Sticking to one pastime for a protracted era shows which you have committment and loyalty. You study the indoors workings of the employer. As an expert in this field you will in simple terms comprehend this employer. changing jobs additionally shows which you desire to study new skills and get to comprehend diverse human beings and new human beings. you would be a 'jack of all trades' yet in line with hazard 'grasp of none'. for my section it fairly is not considerable which direction you're taking at present, see you later as you turn it right into a favorable... eg... corporation: So Mr Peplu, I see which you have had multiple jobs in the previous 3 years- replaced into there any specific clarification for that? Peplu: This has incredibly worked out in my earnings as I incredibly have learnt new working practices and have been given to fulfill some stunning human beings! the biggest concern is which you turn something that is adverse into some thing this is helpful.

Decide what means more to you. More money or staying with a company you like. There's nothing wrong with taking better jobs if they present themselves, but just make sure it's what you want. Your company won't hold it against you (or at least shouldn't) for taking a better job. You could also ask them for better pay, and if you're a good worker you might get it.
