Do you think the problem may be hypochondria?

That is what it sounds like to me, since the doctor cant find the reason or a reason to investigate further. Do you read webMD a lot?

Also, the city is spelled SYDNEY.

Ah, the irritable pain of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I too am one of the unlucky bastards that has this. According to my GI doctor, there's not much that can really be done to detect this disorder in the first place. What she recommended is to rule out everything else first to confirm that I don't have polyps, cancer, liver problems, etc.

The one thing she recommended that may work for you is to eat more fiber. Fiber is truly the only thing that helps defeat the symptoms of IBS. You should be taking in at least 25g of fiber every day - particularly from food (and supplements if you have to). The fiber will bulk up your stool so it is no longer painful to have a "twosie."

If your doctor is not following up with proper protocol or you feel unsatisified and are still experiencing problems, feel free to seek a second opinion. If possible, try to make an appointment with a gastroenterologist - they specialize in nothing but the digestive tract. They may be hard to come by, especially since some require a referral. Don't give up though!

Hope this helps and best wishes!

Hold on a minute, you just discribed half a dozen ailments. I wonder do you drink alot of milk or milk products? That sounds an aweful lot like lactose intolerence. Try changing your diet a bit and keep a journal of what you consume after a week or two you may find it only affects you when you eat or drink certain things. What have you got to loose, your suffering already, right?

I would strongly advise that you go and get a second, or if necessay a third opinion.
