"There is an appointed time for everything, and a time for every affair under the heavens."
Is it time now for the Catholic Church in England and Wales to initiate the process towards complete separation of Church and State?
I really cannot see a reason why religious institutions, adoption agencies, etc., affiliated to a religious community (or institution as those outside the community like to think of it) should have to play ball with those who really ARE NOT INTERESTED in understanding them, and are merely tolerating them at best.
They have a right, as does any community in a democracy, to use their resources as they see fit. Why then, continue to engage with an increasingly secular society who are interested (nominally) in the Church's POV only when talks of money arise (the Church is filthy rich, right?). Does the outreach cause require Catholics to be 'doormats'?
Let the religious communities look after their own affairs and let the secularists support the secular causes.
