It's an innate human desire. When you're faced with hardship in life you automatically strive to overcome it and in the process you undergo personal growth.

Because our Spirit is unlike temporal flesh which will soon decompose as our flesh must die.
Because God is a Spirit, we can only serve him effectively in Spirit therefore we need to grow spiritually as we grow in the flesh. If our Spiritual growth was as mature as our human growth we would be 100% complete.

1. because it pleases God that you desire to be like Him
2. because it is good for you to be in a position to receive blessing (attained through spiritual growth)
3. because if you are not "growing" you are "dying" (there is no stagnation)
4. because Spiritual growth enables us to have more power against satan and the forces of darkness
5. because Spiritual growth increases our understanding of our God and our relationship to Him
6. because Spiritual growth decreases the hold this world has on us and develops us for our position in the coming life
7. because Spiritual growth allows us to have crowns to cast at Christ's feet (as part of the Bride of Christ we don't want to show up empty handed at God's throne).

What good is life if I don't at least temporarily rise above the computation that I am? My story is prefigured in the instant of the Inflationary Era, but I'm still here to live it now.

Because in life, EVERYTHING is either growing or dying. And who wants to be a small-spirited egocentric without the capability to love? Such a one can have no peace in his or her life.

Mind + Body + Spirit = Healthy Human
The interaction of the three is the best way to acheive happiness, health and inner peace. (Note: Spirit does NOT have to mean following a religion).

Spiritual growth is to be pleasing to YHVH. (to be more like YAHOSHUA). It is the only lasting way to peace.
