The best way to end street crime is to get involved in your community. Organize groups like Neighborhood Watch, work with youth who are at risk. Do something besides hiding indoors typing on a computer (wait a minute, that's what I'm doing now!).
Seriously, until we all demand an end to the escalation of crime and the decline of morals, it isn't going to stop until judgement day.
Be involved, hold your kids accountable for their whereabouts and what they do. If your kid is failing to attend school, take them, and stay there if you have to. I've seen it done, it is effective and humiliating for the lilttle thug.

Above all else everyone is acountable for they own bloke. NMost people forget that they can phone in a crime with information about the crime without having to give name, address, or any other information. But do nothuing and you can't complain.

You cannot, no civilians can. But civilians can help police decrease street crime, more police officers will decrease crime, but It won't end it.

Step one would be to decriminalize all drugs...there would be no drug dealers...therefore no "truf wars" etc.
Then go from there.
Didn't our government learn ANYTHING from prohibition in the 30's?
