My daughter had 2 fantail goldfish, except we had no idea if they were male or female. She was really hoping to get some babies. So, this morning, I found one of them dead. She is hoping that with our replacement fish that we get this afternoon, we will have a breeding pair. Except, I have no idea what to look for if they do actually breed this time. I got some info from another yahoo answer on how to distiguish the sex of the fish (this looks too hard for me, so I think it will just have to be a matter of luck).... but I am wondering how the whole "birth" will occur if we luck out with 1 male and 1 female this time.
