Not sleeping well isn't necessarily a sign for a UTI. High fever is a big sign, foul smelling urine as well. My daughter had one and the way they have to test for it when they are that young is by catheter. The doctors need a sterile sample of urine, they can't use a diaper, so they have to insert a catheter into the baby's bladder. My daughter has had to have this done 3 times already. She is only 15 months old. Her fever was 104 when she had to go to the ER. The doctors will check for everything else first before they test for a UTI. And most likely, if there is no fever, there is no UTI, so I wouldn't worry about it. However, I would take her to the doctor if she is not acting herself.. It could always be something as simple as an ear infection or just trouble sleeping. Maybe she is hungry and not getting quite enough food. That is something to discuss with the doctor. Good luck!

Yep it is very possible...my daughter had them.
go to the doctors and have her tested. And if that is not what it is then ask the doctor for any suggestions on sleeping problems.
You may just have a problem sleeper...quite common.
Swaddling is a good was to help a new baby. This means you just wrap the baby tightly in a baby blanket...not too tight please.
If you dont know how to swaddle then ask your mom or even the doctors office how to do it.
A baby comes from a tight environment (the womb) and they tend to become fearful when suddenly they are flung into the very huge world. Babies like the feel of what they knew in the womb.
But go to the doctor so the baby can be checked out for anything.

It is very unlikely that a 1 month old has a urinary infection. There could be several reasons why a baby of that age is not sleeping well.(1 month old babies don't sleep very well period) If you feel something is wrong take her to the doc and have her checked out.

make sure you burp her real good after every feeding. i thought my baby had colic because he didn't sleep well when he was a new born either....but it was that he wanted more bottle and needed to burp more. Since then I have raised even two more boys and I have learned that in order to keep a baby happy usually all they want is a full belly, a dry diaper, and no air in the tummy. as long as they are fed, burped, and changed properly they will sleep good for you. Also keep the baby clean, a sponge bath every night or two helps them sleep too...it's hard to sleep when you feel dirty or sticky. and the girl that said you should swaddle the baby....that helps too. Lay the blanket down in sort of a diamond shape, lay the baby in the center, fold up the bottom corner to the baby's belly, fold the left side over the baby and tuck under her back, then fold over the right side and baby is swaddled. Good luck

The only way of knowing for sure is to test the pee. Has she a temperature? Is her urine darker and smelly?
It's very easy to get a urinary infection if you wipe her the wrong way when she has done a poo. Make sure you clean her carefully when she's done a poo ( front to back) using a new cotton wool ball for each wipe. If she has an infection she will need antibiotics so it doesn't travel up to her kidneys.
If you have any concerns talk to your doctor ,midwife or health visitor (if you are in the UK)
I hope she is OK.

I would say that its unlikely, but anything is possible. I had a neighbor whos baby go yeast infections alot..which i think could have been a result of not changing her diaper enough, who knows. but there could be several reasons for why your baby is not sleeping well and if you are that worried about it i wouldnt be listening to people on here, that is your baby girl, you should take her to the doctor if you have concerns.

It can be very normal for a baby to be restless at this age, and can be a number of very simple problems.
She would have to have kidney problems, or bladder problems and if that was the case she would probably scream crying every time she urinated. Also urine would be of an abnormal colour or maybe smell strange.
If you suspect this to be true, I wouldnt be asking someone on here about it dear, get your baby to a doctor.
