There seems to be a bit of a macho culture when it comes to moaning about, or even destroying, speed cameras. Surely people are missing the point. The cameras are only enforcing the law. If you think you can travel safely at higher speeds then why not petition government to raise the maximum speed limits? Most of these limits are decades old and probably should be updated. Instead most people choose to focus there anger on an inanimate object. Why?

Somebody here mentioned that "When you buy food using the WIC vouchers, you are restricted to certain brands."

I *think* I remember once being in a US supermarket (I'm not American) and seeing some groceries tagged as WIC-eligible. If it was WIC I'm thinking of, I remember wondering why it only seemed to be lousy stuff.

The cheapest, most preservative-laden bread. Processed cheese. Etc.

but it's a bit confusing. Are carrots really the only vegetable? No fruit?? Why's tuna on the list when pregnant women routinely worry about mercury levels in fish? (Being vegetarian, I haven't really looked into it...) And, no other meat. "Pasteurized Process American" is allowed, but allowable cheese "Must be real cheese (as stated on product label)." Huh?

I could see not allowing junk food, or heavily processed food, but that list seems to be cutting out a ridiculous amount of nutritious stuff --

it's been 9 months since me and my ex bf parted..it wasn't a friendly part,in fact it's one which left a deep scar on the both of us and i saw him a few days ago and he pretended he couldn't see me.this was what happened with us.the both of us had different religions and this posed as the biggest prob.we have been together for 2.5 yrs & he really meant the whole world to me.both of us were so deeply in love but after awhile,he began telling me that if i wanna be with him,i gotta convert.he's a christian.if i don't convert,i can never be with him.i was shocked to hear that from him.i thought if the both of us really love each other,nothing else matters.we quarrelled many times because of this & he's also a very insecure & possessive guy.he didn't allow me to go for class gatherings or chat with guys.i'm a really outgoing girl & have many male acquaintances & he said he just couldn't trust me.my mom made me break up with him cos he forced me to convert & this showed he doesn't love me

I have order some goods from a wholesale company. I paid £35 for delivery, I asked them to leave the order in the garden.
I wasn't there when they tried to deliver and they said they need a signature (it doesnt say in their terms and conditions that i have to be there ), now they say that i have to collect the goods ( i cant it's too bulky) or i need to pay £35 for a redelivery.
If i cancel the order they will keep £35 plus £45 for the goods to be returned to them. Can they do that? it doesnt say that in their terms and conditions. so one way or the other i am loosing all my money. and i dont want to pay £70 to get the goods!!! please help.

As we move towards an increasingly interconnected society, our interactions with people from within India & with those of different cultures across the world is rising. While buzzwords such as global village & knowledge society are constantly used in advertising, we are hardly open to a respectful acceptance of our differences. Alarmingly there is a rise in xenophobic attitudes and favoritism towards certain sections of society, based either on race, skin color or caste. There are quite a few shameful instances where Indians have exhibited racism. Racial slurs are used quite openly towards people of different regions & religions. When we are on the receiving end, we denounce racism and rightfully so, but, aren't we guilty of a double standard when there is manifest racism in our own country? India has long been a melting pot of cultures, languages, ethnicities and that has been her proudest tradition. How do we transcend above petty racism to embrace all humanity as one with ourselves?

I FILLED OUT AN APPLICATION AT CHEVRON GAS COMPANY AND A LADY CALLED ME AND TOLD ME TO BRING TWO COPIES OF MY ID AND SOCIAL SECURITY CARD. WHEN I GOT THERE I GAVE HER MY ID AND SOCIAL SECURITY AND SHE CALLED HER BOSS AND THEN SHE TOLD ME THAT I WOULD NEED TO TRAIN FOR FOUR HOURS SO I COULD LEARN THERE COMPUTER SYSTEM BECAUSE I HAVE ALOT OF EXPERIENCE ALREADY. THAT MY HOURS WERE FRI,SAT,SUN FROM 1PM TO 9PM AND MON AND TUES GRAVEYARD FROM 9PM TO 6AM IN THE MORNING. SO SHE TOLD ME TO COME BACK THE NEXT DAY AROUND 1PM FOR TRAINING. I DID AND WHEN I GOT THERE SHE TOLD ME THAT THEY NEEDED A COPY OF MY BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND I TOLD HER NO THEN SHE TOLD ME THAT THE SURPERVISOR WILL CALL ME TOMORROW AND IF SHE DONT THEN SHE WOULD AND I LEFT
