my fiance and i got engaged wehn we were pretty young (16/17) and my parents have completely ignored the fact that we are engaged. we have decided on a date for our wedding 2009 when we willl be a year away from finishing college. i want to tell my family, my whole family, not just my parents but i am hesitant to do so because i don't want to upset my parents. we were going to around Christmas time, but i decided not to since my parents weren't informed ahead of time. how should we go about telling them? and are there any ideas on getting my parents (mostly my mom, ok, just my mom) to stop saying things that suggest i will not be marrying my fiance? she does this a lot (like whenever anything related to marriage/future/children/etc) and it hurts for her to brush off something that she knows is already there. we even took our parents out to dinner when we originally told them and they still act as if we aren't engaged!!! any ideas would be much appreciated.

Cults. A&E aired a documentary last night about Jim Jones and the mass suicide/homicides at Jonestown. It scares me that the human mind can be so distorted into believing that they must kill themselves because someone else says so.

If it can happen to others, who's to say we all couldn't just lose our minds one day and stop thinking for ourselves? I know that I have a strong, stubborn mind and that I stand firm in my beliefs, but who's to say that these other people weren't like that. Maybe I'm just afraid that the human mind can be so easily controlled. That's frightening.

What does everyone else think about this?

im 140, 5'4 .... i have an hourglass shape so my stomach isnt so big. No one thinks im fat, but everyone thinks im just like a bit "bigger". But no one thinks im like fat fat. But actually i do want to lose weight, i was thinking 20 pounds? Anyone have any other suggestions so i can be skinny but not like anerexic skinny lol thanks

ok been happily married 16 yrs to a great guy who is very sweet,loving,affectionate,kind and very good to me anyways last january 1 night when hubby went down to the local small store in our town phone rang was a girl she ask if ronny was home and when i said no who is this she hung up on me immediately well i question him for a few months and he said over and over he didnt know anything about the call and i totally believe him cause he would never cheat or give another girl his number..i just find it intereresting to see what other people think of this and would other married women believe their husband in this situation

I have a female cousin with a disgusting bathroom habit. She's almost 40 yrs old and she won't sit on anyones toilet seat but her own (her entire immediate family is also like this).
She often comes to my place for movies,dinner,etc.
When she goes to the bathroom she squats over the toilet to do her business. When I go in the bathroom behind her I find that she's "sprayed" all over the seat (she makes NO effort to clean up her mess)!!!
Once in the past I questioned her on this and that's when I found out about the toilet seat phobia.
I am insulted that she thinks she's going to get some kind of disease from my toilet and I'm appalled at her "spraying" like some kind of animal.
This past weekend I almost confronted her in front of guests to teach her a lesson but then decided to talk to her in private.
Should I ban her from coming over (I really don't want to)?
Should I ban her from using the toilet in my home?
What would YOU do?

Every time I make a pitcher of smoothie with my blender, it comes out bad. They're grainy, rather than smooth and have no distinct taste. I want to know how to make a great smoothie. the past 2 days i have been having contractions earlier today they were ten minutes apart and lasting about one to 2 minutes, that went on for about 2 hoirs and then stopped. a few hours later i got a few more and then they stopped again. now i have been having contractions with a weird pain in my abdomin. its not that pain full but it is very uncomfortable. any suggestions on what has been goin on.
