Suppose that we have a simple rc circuit , a dc source (V), a switch, a bobin (L) and a resistance (R) connected serial respectively, in steady state, current is V/R. When we open the switch at t=0, current and voltages will change according to the following equations,

Current =V/R . exp(-t.R/L) and voltage drop across the bobin= - V. Exp(-t.R/L).

As seen very clearly, voltage drop across the bobin can not be higher than source voltage V, but we know very well that the instant we open the switch there are huge voltage spikes (10-20 times as high as the source voltage) across the bobin, so what is the problem with these equations that the spikes are not seen in these equations ?

I think they did about EVERYTHING known to man on this show so far. Their Halloween special this past Sunday was kinda lame. I was thinking maybe they should touch more edgy subjects to keep the show interesting. (ex. Homer and Marge have sex outside their marriage AND be comfortable with it. I mean, sheesh! How long can Homer stay attracted to that blue beehive hairdo of Marge's?)

About one week ago it was raining and I went to apply for a job. I parked and was inside the building for about a half hour. When I got back out my car wouldn't start. Normally I can hear my fuel pump turn on, it couldn't hear it come on at that point in time. After sitting for about 2 hours, I went back to tow it, it started right up and drove half way home. Then it stalled, once again, I couldn't hear the fuel pump. I waited 10 minutes and it started up again. It drove to the shop, nevery failed once, then drove home. I haven't had that problem since. However, now whenever I am drivng the seatbelt light will flash at me, keep in mind, I am buckled up all the time. For a test, I buckled up and moved around, nothing happened. But as soon as I start moving the vehicle it starts flashing. This is a 1996 2.2 L4 2 door chevy cavalier with a manual transmission. Any Ideas, I need some help getting this fixed.

We have a stray cat who has become very friendly. She had kittens (not her first set) about 6 weeks ago and we gave them away to good homes, but unfortunately it was rather abrupt... one day they were here, then they were all gone in an afternoon. A little boy wanted to know what it was like to have R1, 000. His mother told him to pray to God for it. He prayed for two weeks but nothing turned up. Then he decided perhaps he should write God a letter requesting the $1, 000.

When the post office received the letter addressed to God, they opened it and decided to send it to President Bush. The President was so impressed, touched and amused that he instructed his secretary to send the little boy $20. He thought this would appear to be a lot of money to a little boy.

The little boy was delighted with the $20 and sat down to write a thank-you letter, which read as follows; "Dear God: Thank you very much for sending me the money. I noticed that you had to send it through the government. As usual, those thieves deducted $980 for tax."

I am a software developer. Kindly suggest me some investment options wherein this amount is exempted from taxable income. Also, after investment the income arising out of the same is also relieved from tax (it is **not mandatory** requirement).

I have already invested in PPF and NSC and have taken LIC policies of long terms. I am looking for making investment wherein the amount is not locked for a longer duration and also at the maturity the tax burden should be minmum. I am not interested in making investment to equity market so please dont suggest me MFs which purely invest in equity market. Mutual fund investing in other than equity market yielding moderate rate of returns (somewhere around 10%-12%) would do.

If you have any other suggestion, kindly share it with me so that it helps me in making decisions.
