Just seems to me that they are more solid than cons when it comes to snitching and comradery. I don't think that there is any honour left among thieves!

she left 20 years ago, and please don't say why bother looking, i only want closure, and yes i am sure that i do. anyway, i am wondering if anyone knows of a good way, i have even paid the $60 search and sent out about 12 letters to the addresses i got, with no responses. she may not want to be found, or i may not have found her, but either way, i am determined to. i have a friend who found her father through some organization, very small, i want to say it was called ALMA? anyway, i can't find any info on them, does anyone know of them, or some other similar organization i could go through? i really need to find her (physical address i can go to preferably), if for nothing else than closure. thanks in advance!

I think most Christians are Christians for two reasons.

1. Raised a Christian.
2. Became a Christian as an emotional crutch in the face of adversity.

The third reason, "intellectual oddysey," I would postulate is far less frequently the reason. By that I mean undertaking a comprehensive study of science, philosophy, and literature. Although some, like Lee Strobel, have become Christians in this way, I think it's a low percentage.

I hypothesize that in order to honestly undertake an "intellectual oddysey," one must not fear EITHER position.

That said, I think many fear the consequences of atheism:

1. Family approval
2. Friendships and social networking opportunities
3. Opportunities for dating/marriage
4. Social disapproval based on distrust and perceived lack of morals
5. Psychological turmoil and/or crisis based on concepts of the
afterlife - both for self and loved ones.
6. Suffering for eternity in hell.

How can one give atheism a fair shake with fear?

I have put an offer in on a flat that includes a share in the freehold. I am not sure yet what the length on the lease is yet but would like to know whether I am still likely to face high costs of renewing it if necessary? Is the process easier as a shared freehold? Is it true all the flats' leases have to be renewed at the same time? Is less than 80 years remaining still considered to be worthy of caution when buying such a flat?

Why not "prisoners of war"?

Anything to do with the violation of international law and the geneva conventions?

Also, did anyone attend the recent funeral of habeus corpus?

Polar bears have black skin to aid in keeping it warm.
Now if a polar bear is an animal that has adapted to cold climates but has black skin to aid in keeping it warm, then how have white people adapted to cold climate--with white skin?

Thanks. This isn't an attempt at racism. Just a mature discussion to be had.

I love to lift weights but don't like the constant feeling of being tense afterwards. What is the best way to relieve, not soreness, but tension. Stretching, massage, ice? Any recommendations?

I work with a man that lives with his mother and is in likeness to Norman Bates. He must hate women because he treats every woman as inferior to him and just talks down to them in general really badly like they can't even handle basic tasks like alphabetizing. He was recently put on a 2 day suspension for yelling at my boss who is no surprise a woman. I don't know why he is still at my job. He is egotistical, mean, and just a creep in general which nobody really can stand. He needs to get out of there and I feel really uncomfortable around him now knowing he can "lose it" any time. What can I do to let this creep know that even though my workplace tolerates his crap I won't without getting myself in trouble? He has been there longer than me and I do stand up for myself but the whole situation makes me so angry I hate working with him.

Tony Blair now says he wants the National DNA Database expanded to include everyone in the UK, this to enhance the ability of the police to solve crimes. Highly commendable but critics say this will be linked to the national identity card that is one of his pet projects. No other EU country is planning anything like this DNA database for all it's citizens. There are so many possible misuses by the government of the system that it worries me.Remember your DNA can be taken if your arrested for any reason and even if found to be innocent your DNA record will be retained by the police which means the government. George Orwell in '1984' never dreamed of this!.
