I love to lift weights but don't like the constant feeling of being tense afterwards. What is the best way to relieve, not soreness, but tension. Stretching, massage, ice? Any recommendations?

Stretching. Deep stretching, not only to warm up, but to cool down. My gym used to have posters up with different stretches in order to stretch all the majour muscle groups. It takes a good 10-15 minutes to stretch and cool down properly, but I always feel great afterwards.

Preparing your muscles for any exercise is just as important as the activity itself. Therefore, you might want to try stretching before lifting weights and stretching again once you are finished.

It is YOGA. You feel tensed because:
1. You are tired
2. Breathing Heavy

So relax , do a few ASANAs..a bit of strecthing is involved..and lastly do shavasan !!...get your breath into normal pace...drink some water..and relax..

You will definately feel better..
