You don't have to put up with that discrimination from a fellow workmate. There are laws in place preventing people like him acting the way he does. If it is really bothering you, and by the sounds of it, it is, have a word to your supervisor/employer about your concern. Discuss the matter with other fellow workmates who feel the same way. I'm sure if a few of you get together and confront your boss about this jerk, then they will have to deal with it. You have the right to be treated with respect and as a human being. Don't put up with it. And if he doesnt start playing nice with the other kiddies, let me know and i'll come smack him upside the head with a super sized twinkie. Best of luck

You are asking for an advice? if so ....
"I work with a man that lives with his mother and is in likeness to Norman Bates."
How did you know that? office rumors of course ...
"He must hate women"
He don't hate women ... this is just a fall back mechanism .. bad treatment and all the other things you have mentioned ... he uses it to protect himself, he prefers that people say that he hates women instead of them saying other things(which varies) ... My advice to you .. that if you care(and want to feel secure) is to talk to him ... I bet that no one ever tried to speak with him in private and asking him why he is behaving like that .... try that and see what happens ... you will have two responses : either he will block you and say things you won't like or he will open up to you ...
People usually need some kindness which is rare nowadays ...
Anyway .. do that and tell me what happened ...

Unless he does something directly to you, it is best that you do not confront him. There has to be a reason why they still have him there. Try to avoid him as much as you can, and soon someone that has the power to let him go will do it. Do not lose your job over this situation, it is not worth it. If you feel he could get dangerous, all the more reason, not to become combative with him.

Just do your job and do not have any extra contact with him. If he does something, write it down with the date, time and witnesses if any in a notebook. Make a copy of each separate incident and give a copy to your supervisor each time it happens, having her sign the original in your notebook. Encourage others to do so also without causing trouble or jeopardizing your job. When your supervisor realizes you are keeping records, she will do one of two things, find a reason to fire you (in which case you have a lawsuit that you will win), or fire the loser.

hate to say it, but "sieniority" has mor say in most situations. i got tierd of idiots like that all around too. i work for myself now and on ebay. its not for everyone but i do more than that. sort of a jack of all trades i am. you are going to almoste always have some creap in almoste every work situation, especialy when the more the work-force involved in the work place the more the creep's. stand up for your self by going to your and his "mutual" boss and tell him simply what you sead hear without going too far tho, and just say he bothers you. that should be anoff in itself to make them watch a little. he slips he gets fierd. also just tell him and from there dont ascociate with him, unless absalootly nessicary. good luck and all. :)

Channel your energy towards your work alone because that itself is stressful. It's not your job to tame him. Anyway, what benefit would you or your career get out of him if you change his perspective about women?
Concentrate on your role at work and in doing well, you might incidentally change his view. That's hitting two birds with one stone!

most workplaces have an internal organization that specifically handle personnel problems. Does your work place have one? Your complaint sounds like something they could take care of.

Document hisbehaviour towards you, and get others to do itas well, dates, times, statements he made. and after a few weeks, take them in to your boss, and demand he does something. Sexual discrimination IS illegal mostplaces, and thecompany can get fined if they refuse to do anything if you have documentation that you can give to the labour board
