I was friends with someone until I discovered that she thought the US moon landing was a hoax. She refused to do any research that would contradict her belief and said I was a victim of a government conspiracy. I found that I couldn't respect her anymore because she was wilfully ignorant.

I respect all nature of relgious belief in my friends. But this example has to do with science, and not belief. I've never had any problems with friends because of their race or sexual orientation. But willful ignorance--ignoring all observable and credible evidence while proudly holding onto lies--was a relationship ender.

Has anyone else ever been in a similar, non-religious situation? Was I cruel or silly to act this way? What do you think?

I have two small girls and my husband and I own two guns. We keep our HK 45 handgun on the nightstand beside the bed with a full clip (none chambered) and the safety on, for protection. We also have a Mosberg 22 shotgun standing up in the closet, fully loaded (none chambered) with the safety on. We have always been open and honest with our girls about the guns. We even plan on taking the oldest shooting. I was wondering how other parents felt about this. The kids are never in the home unsupervised because I am stay at home mom and we have taught the oldest that if she is curious that she can come to us. I feel it's a safety issue having guns in my home. I feel more protected having them there but I was curious to know other parents feelings on this issue. In your opinion is it okay for us to keep our guns out in the open with our kids?

Could I ask for a small prayer tomorrow? I have recently had to accept some changes in my life and tomorrow will be one of my not so great days due to certain medical treatments. As selfish as this may sound could I ask believers to please pray that I may better adjust to what God has sent to me? Thanks and you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Peace Be With You,
Debra

they "employ" for political motives? Just wondering why someone like Osama bin Laden, for example, praises and exalts the "martyrs" he uses, supports, etc., points out how virtuous these "martyrs" are , and points out how they will be rewarded in the next life. If this is the case and they believe such things, why don't more of the actual leaders of Islamic radicalism participate in such "martyrdom" acts instead of sending their followers to sacrifice themselves?

When you see one of your friends in the hall and they stare at you, and only you, with a dreamy look in their eyes and a opened mouth. Then their friends start staring at you all the time.

We got him 2 years ago, at the age of 3. He was neutered prior us getting him. Why would his penis even still work, if supposedly there is no testosterone in him to get him "excited" Its becoming an awful habit, and is especially annoying when his plumbing shouldn't even work anymore!
