Tony Blair has committed £40m to help Lebanon recover from the recent conflict with Israel.

Visiting Beirut, the prime minister also said he would dedicate himself to helping to resolve the region's problems.

Speaking at a press conference alongside his Lebanese counterpart, Blair defended his delay in calling for an immediate ceasefire during the summer's conflict.

More than a thousand Lebanese were killed as the Israelis sought to destroy Hizbollah.

And Britain's roll in the conflict provoked anger from protestors in Beirut and at the press conference, which was interrupted by a woman who shouted that the visit was "an insult to the families of thousands of Lebanese who have died".

But Blair sought to sound optimistic about the prospects for a peaceful settlement in the Middle East.

He repeated his belief that resolving the conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians was crucial to whole region's stability.

was wondering what do you make of this. should uk get involved?

Please give me some tips. I live in a house that is 3 years old, I do not keep windows open much at all, I change air filters often, but have such a super dusty house. I'll dust and the next day is a nasty thick layer of dust on everything. In the sunlight you can see the dust fly. I try and try to keep up with it....such as vaccuuming 2 to3 times weekly, and dusting 2 times weekly. I do own a dog, but with cleaning so frequently I thought dust wouldn't be a problem. Looking for help!!!

why are you so logical? it goes against human nature to be so logical and to think things through. this is clearly demonstrated by the number of Xians in the USA. You are the minority, even though you are correct, do you not feel you are going against human nature, as the majority of humans believe in mumbo jumbo??

SYDNEY (Reuters) - Australian authorities have urged fans of Steve Irwin not to attack stingrays after several rays were found dead since the TV naturalist was killed in a rare fatal attack by one of the normally placid animals.

Irwin, whose "Crocodile Hunter" documentaries were watched by more than 200 million people, was killed eight days ago when the serrated barb from a stingray's tail pierced his heart.
