I think this depends on whether you live on the coasts of America or in the centre and Bible Belt. I think there are elements in American society and politics that are deeply troubling and not far removed from the extremism of Muslim fundamentalists. However, the political and economic stability of the US means there is no medium or stimulus to create a popular terrorist unit. So, culturally similar to the the Europeans. Theologically, the US maybe closer to the Muslim terrorist crazies.

Americans did not take part in the colonisation of Africa and they feel that now that they are a super power they must assert themselves as leader of the new world, the same applies to muslim fundamentalists who are desperate to control the world, they believe they can control the world ,the slave trade was not enough, however eventually just like the communist ideology it will all fall apart

Lets see now?
They have a leader who by most standards is educational sub-normal but because he claims to be a born-again Christian he's adored by millions.
They have a rapidly growing contingent of religious zealots who seem to exert an increasing influence on government policy.
They like to blow up people who don't see the world as they do.
They have little idea of the values of other cultures and would like the whole world to adopt their own hypocritical standards.
Definitely soul-mates to the Muslim Brotherhood!

Muslim fundamentalists, as with both these and the U.S., it's either do things their way, or you're wrong and therefore against them.

U.S. is on the way to becoming a Taliban type Bible Nazi Christian state. South Dakota should have it's star on the American flag replaced by a coathanger.
